•HOW TO HANDLE A DEPRESSED WIFE/HUSBAND💥
*******************************************
(Copied from my book #TheAssociationFactor).

▪️The naked truth is that, there have been moments when my wife Leticia has been spiritually depressed. And during those moments, she could neither pray nor read the Bible effectively. As a husband, that is when I had to spiritually encourage her, share empowering Bible verses, show her more love and project a bright future to her. Recite with me this beautiful verse; “Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones” says Proverbs 16:24.

▪️During this time I also deeply prayed for her with a nonjudgmental heart, and her life was revived. My wife is my best friend and I treasure her more than anything in this world. As a married person, your first and best friend should be your wife or husband and if it‟s not that way there is something that is not right in your relationship. I have also had low moments in life at times feeling like I should quit on many assignments from God. My wife who by the grace of God has always been there has not only encouraged me but is also my great intercessor. Her prayers have always re-energized my spirit and pushed me an extra mile in pursuit of God‟s will.

▪️This goes out to all the married couples; you are supposed to help and bear with each other during your low moments. The most crucial time when your partner needs you most is during his/her lows which are always a season of vulnerability to temptations and illusions from the devil. All they need is someone who can understand them and who can offer to be leaned on. Someone who can critically analyze and study the whole situation from a spiritual perspective not someone who is arrogant and carnally driven.

▪️You must always be available to render necessary support to your spouse during such testing moments— because you don‟t want him or her to fall in the hands of a person who can take advantage of their weakness. This can result into adultery or getting involved in ungodly actions which can break the bond in the marriage. The devil is more likely to exploit us during our low moments in life so we must always be available for our spouses to work as a shielding object against temptations which want to overpower them.

▪️Standing beside your partner is important if we want to see them grounded in the faith. Be the first person to pray and encourage your spouse in the WORD if you want to see them bounce back. There are some partners who are very arrogant to their spouses when they are down in the spirit; they act in a rude way which is not right. When Jesus was in His time of test while in the garden of Gethsemane, the Father in heaven did not respond to His Son in an arrogant way.

▪️The Son was wrestling to do the perfect will of His Father, but the cup of fury was a big challenge for Him to drink. When He cried out to God for help, God responded in a positive way. He sent an angel and strengthened Him to take the cup, bare the strokes and die on the cross. Learn this today: What God did for His Son is what a true friend or partner is expected to do…have a positive response.

▪️A responsible man/woman responds to his partner in a responsible way by always giving the necessary encouragement. If we don‟t respond in this way, it‟s a sign that we don‟t treasure or care about our partner‟s life. It is a sign of a very selfish and disingenuous person. True love to our partner is demonstrated most in times of tests and trails—forsaking our partner in such a trying time is a sign that we don‟t even love God.

▪️Hating our partner is equally hating our own self— the two shall become one. I know that it can be very challenging to handle a partner who is down spiritually, but with true love and patience, it can be done. No matter how challenging and irritating the situation can become, giving up on your spouse has never been the best solution. Marriage is a lifetime commitment to your spouse, through the good and bad times. Not only in the good times!

▪️If you only love in the good times, then you do not really love. True love for your spouse is not measured when all things are running smoothly, but true love is measured in the midst of a storm or challenge. How you act and how you handle the situation portrays the real you. In such moments of challenge, one must crucify “self” in order to make the right decisions which are driven by love and self-denial. “Self” is one of the main stubborn spirits that most of us struggle with now and then.

▪️We must overcome self-centeredness. No one can handle marriage according to the biblical way if he or she is still driven by selfishness, anger, pride, unforgiveness, control, and personal ego. All the above elements have to be subdued and brought under captivity in order to create room for true love and care in a relationship. Sometimes your partner may be depressed and not in the right mood to perform bedroom activities.

▪️If you are a caring and understanding husband, you will control yourself and patiently wait until things get back to normal. But if you forcefully push her to do it, it‟s a sign of selfishness and lack of self-control. Any man who cannot demonstrate self-control when it comes to s*x is still a boy. Real men exercise self-control because they are controlled by Jesus Christ Himself.

▪️Jesus does not forcefully push the Church into a relationship with Him; He only pours out His love to the Church with all His life. And in return, He waits patiently for Church to come in communion with Him. What pulls the Church (Bride) to Christ is not excessive force but it‟s the love demonstrated by Christ which draws the Church to Him. “…while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”—Romans 5:8. “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” —John 15:13.

▪️Observe, first Christ loved and died for the Church before even the Church submitting to Him…if we truly love our partner, we won‟t wait for them to first do the right thing to deserve our love. Let love begin to drive us to a place where we can selflessly pour out ourselves to our partner in both good and testing moments. “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love” says 1 Corinthians 13:13.

[07/04/21]   💥Hyper Grace Preachers.
💥Who are they?
💥And what is hyper-grace?*

▪️The term hyper-grace has been used to describe a new wave of teaching that emphasizes the grace of God to the exclusion of other vital teachings such as repentance and confession of sin.

▪️Hyper-grace teachers maintain that all sin, past, present, and future, has already been forgiven, so there is no need for a believer to ever confess it.
▪️Hyper-grace teaching says that, when God looks at us, He sees only a holy and righteous people.
The conclusion of hyper-grace teaching is that *we are not bound by Jesus’ teaching,* even as we are not under the Law; (that all what Jesus taught and preached was under the law, therefore believers are not bound by them. What a fallacy!) that believers are not responsible for their sin; and that anyone who disagrees is a pharisaical legalist.

*▪️In short, hyper-grace teachers “pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality” (Jude 1:4) and flirt with antinomianism.*

▪️Jesus’ words to the seven churches in the book of Revelation strongly contradict the idea that Christians never need to repent.
¶To the church at Ephesus, Jesus said, “Consider how far you have fallen! *Repent and do the things you did at first.* If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place” (Revelation 2:4).

▪️Jesus rebukes five of the seven churches and demanded repentance from them (Revelation 2:4, 6, 20; 3:3, 15–19).
Far from believers being unaccountable for their sin, they must answer to Jesus for their disobedience (2Corinthians 5:10).

▪️Preachers of hyper-grace doctrine discount the Old Testament and the Ten Commandments as irrelevant to New Testament believers. And as I said they even teach that Jesus’ words spoken before His resurrection are part of the Old Covenant and no longer applicable to born-again believers.😢😢😢

¶ In Mark 13:31, *Jesus said,* “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised that the Father would send the Holy Spirit who “will teach you all things *and will remind you of everything I have said to you”* (John 14:26).
If Jesus’ words are no longer applicable to believers, why would we need to be reminded of them?😄🤔

▪️Hyper-grace teaching is a good example of mixing truth with error. *An emphasis on the beauty and power of God’s grace is good,* but some teachers are neglecting what Paul called the *“whole counsel of God” (Acts 20:27).*

For example, it is true that Christians have been forgiven by God. But that doesn’t mean we never have to confess our sin. *¶ James 5:16 says, “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”* If we are to confess our sins to each other, why would we not need to confess them to God, since every sin is ultimately a sin against God (Psalm 51:4)?
*(They wish they could remove the book of James from the bible claiming James was legalistic - what a shame!)*

¶ Also, 1John 1:9 gives clear instruction to believers about confessing sin. It begins with the word if:
*“If we confess our sin,* He is faithful and just to forgive our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
This is a cause/effect statement implying that we cannot have the second without the first. *As blood-bought children of God, we do not continue to confess our sin in order to be saved from hell.* We confess and repent in order to re-establish an intimate relationship with our Father. We are “positionally righteous” but “practically sinful.”

▪️To counter this argument, hyper-grace preachers deny that John’s letters were written to believers. However, 1 John 2:1 begins with this: *“My dear children,* I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.”
John is clearly writing to believers whom he personally knew.
He indicates that his believing friends may indeed sin, and that, when they do, they need to confess it.

▪️Hyper-grace preachers also claim the Holy Spirit will never convict Christians of their sin. Mature Christians should recognize this fallacy right away. Every disciple of Christ has felt the overwhelming conviction of the Holy Spirit when he or she has sinned.

This needs a thorough explanation especially to our hyper friends.
▪️The conviction of believers here is not the Conviction of the world that leads to condemnation and death as we are going to see further below.
Rather its the voice of His correcting love, the fatherly rebuke and chastening of the Lord.
-being made aware of their sin.

Hebrews 12:5-29

5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou *the chastening of the Lord,* nor faint when thou art *rebuked* of him:

6 For whom the Lord loveth he *chasteneth,* and *scourgeth* every son whom he receiveth.

7 *If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons;* for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which *corrected us,* and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

▪️This holy conviction of sin is further described by apostle Paul in 2 Cor 7:1-12.
The Holy Spirit used apostle Paul in these words to bring severe conviction upon the Church and it was called *“godly sorrow”* *-that led them to repentance.* These portions of Scripture show that God does not accept unchecked sin and wickedness in the Church.
It needs to be driven out of the Church with the flames of the Holy Fire of the Spirit. If we imagine that God overlooked such sin because of the priceless blood of Christ, why is the anointed apostle used of the Holy Spirit to demonstrate otherwise.
If such sin was accepted by the believers and was not a threat then these would have been pointless scriptures.
Yes indeed the Holy Spirit convicts the Church of sin.

*▪️If not yet convinced by that, Lets take it to higher note:*

Is it true that the Holy Spirit does NOT convict believers of sin?

▪️A prominent hyper-grace teacher, Joseph Prince, made a bold statement in his book: “The bottom line is that the Holy Spirit never convicts you of your sins. He NEVER comes to point out your faults. I challenge you to find a scripture in the Bible that tells you that the Holy Spirit has come to convict you of your sins. You won’t find any.”
(Page 134-135, Destined to Reign)

▪️I think before we issue a challenge to anyone, we’d better do our homework first.

*The bible encourages us to study*

“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).

▪️Before we examine the validity of Prince's assertion—the Holy Spirit never convicts you of your sins—in light of scripture, let us deeply search into the meaning of the word ‘convict’.

The word ‘convict’ is a translation of the Greek word *‘elegchó’*, which can mean several things below;
reprove,
expose,
rebuke,
discipline or
show to be guilty.

*However our hyper friends zero-in on the last one and put a blind eye on the first four.*

Here we go...

▪️In the following verse, we find that the word ‘reprove’ (elegchō) has a meaning similar to the word ‘convict’ (elegchō):

¶ “Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent” (Revelation 3:19).

▪️This verse in Rev. 3:19 is about God’s corrective discipline in love. There is no higher proof of God’s love for His children (believers) than when He chastises and disciplines them so that they will not have to face His judgment (wrath).

¶ “For the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and chastises every son whom He receives” (Hebrews 12:6).

▪️Now let’s establish the role of the Holy Spirit in this act of convicting (elegchō) or rebuking (elegchō).
We read in Revelation 3:22: “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
Now what does the Holy Spirit want the church to hear and take heed? The answer is found a few verses earlier. The Holy Spirit wants believers to know that He hates sin. He wants to expose sin, convict (elegchō) believers of sin, reprove (elegchō) believers who sin (Revelation 3:19).

▪️The Holy Spirit functions as a prosecuting attorney who exposes evil, convicts or reproves believers when they go astray and convinces them to repent so that they will not face God’s judgment.
“Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation without regret” (2 Corinthians 7:10).

▶️ To be convicted of sin is to have a sense of loathsomeness for one’s sins to the extent that one decides to turn away from sin and live a righteous life pleasing to God—just as King David was broken and contrite when he confessed his sin after his adultery with Bathsheba. “Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight …” (Psalm 51:4). He acknowledged his sin before God and repented.

▪️Do you know that believers who do not experience His reproof, conviction of sin, chastisement and discipline in their lives are deemed to be bastards/illegitimate children?👇

¶ “It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons” *(Hebrews 12:7-8).*

So to recapitulate:

▪️The Holy Spirit definitely convicts (elegchō) believers of sin / reproves ((elegchō) believers who sin. It is part of God’s corrective discipline of His legitimate children so that they will not be condemned like the rest of the unbelieving world.

The fact believers are convicted (elegchō) of their sins by the Holy Spirit—or are reproved (elegchō) for their sins—is a testimony to their legitimacy as children of God.

▪️How tragic it is today when God’s people mistake the voice of His correcting love for the condemning voice of Satan, and how sad it is when they resist the purifying work of the Spirit, claiming that there’s nothing to purify since God no longer sees their sins.

Has He justified us by the blood of Jesus? Absolutely.
Has He has set apart as holy to Himself? Without a doubt.
Has He called us to be His sons and daughters, all by His love and grace? Yes He has.
*And it is because of these things that Paul wrote,*
¶ “Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God” (2 Cor. 7:1).

*Now lets deal with Joseph Prince's second premise.*

▪️His claim that God never points out the faults of believers (Quote: “He NEVER comes to point out your faults”) is something that can be quickly dismissed as falsehood by citing the following verses:

¶ But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first (Revelation 2:4)

¶ But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice s*xual immorality (Revelation 2: 14)

¶ But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice s*xual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols (Revelation 2: 20)

¶ I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead (Revelation 3: 1)

¶ I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked (Revelation 3:15-17)

▪️Certainly God has been blunt and profuse in His chastisement of the churches in Revelation.
-What the Spirit is saying to these churches—and, by implication, to believers today—is this:

-God is angry and displeased with them and they had better repent.

▪️To reiterate, the Holy Spirit exposes their sins, convicts (elegchō) them of their sins and reproves (elegchō) them for their sins in order that they might repent and thus escape God’s judgment.

Believers today need to take heed and buck up spiritually (Revelation 3:22).

▪️When the Holy Spirit convicts believers of sin, it is in keeping with *God’s corrective discipline* in the lives of believers who are His legitimate children.

▪️The ultimate tragedy is when believers think they are prosperous and need nothing, not realising that they are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked (Revelation 3:17).

This false sense of security arises when believers embrace the false teaching that God never points out the fault of believers and that the Holy Spirit never convicts believers of sins.

That is why Jesus says, “Blessed are the poor in spirit” (Matthew 5:3). For these ones know their spiritual poverty in God’s eyes.

That is why the publican is looked upon as righteous in God’s eyes rather than the Pharisee because the former was humble and acknowledged his sinfulness, “God be merciful to me a sinner” (Parable of the Pharisee and the publican, Luke 18: 9-14).

▪️Satan rejoices when believers rest in a *false sense of security* that all is well, that all their sins have been dealt with ‘once and for all’ at the point of conversion—that they can therefore afford to get rid of sin consciousness in their lives and that the Holy Spirit never convicts believers of sins.

This condition reminds me of the frog which finds great delight sitting in a basin of warm water. Finally, when water temperature reaches boiling point, it is too late to jump out of the water.

▪️How does this false teaching of hyper-grace come about?
The plain and simple reason is that it largely ignores huge chunks of the book of Revelation above—a practice termed as *cherry picking.*

▪️Believers need to differentiate the conviction of sin by the Holy Spirit— *which is positive as it leads to repentance*—from the condemnation of satan, who continually accuses believers.

*And, sadly, those who embrace such falsehood don’t have the spirit of independent, critical thinking of the Bereans and fail to scrutinise such false teaching against the whole counsel of the Word.*

▪️In summary, much of what the hyper-grace preachers teach is valid. We are indeed saved by grace, not our works (Ephesians 2:8–9). And God’s grace is marvelous, great, and free (1 Timothy 1:14).
*However, hyper-grace teaching is out of proportion to the rest of Scripture.*
Any time one doctrine is emphasized to the exclusion of the rest, *we fall into error* because we fail to “correctly handle” the Word (2 Timothy 2:15).

▪️Jesus was full of both *“grace and truth”* (John 1:14). The two are in delicate balance, and a tip to either side can result in a FALSE GOSPEL.

*We must always compare any new teaching with the “WHOLE COUNSEL OF GOD”* and learn to disregard anything that veers even slightly from the truth (1 John 4:1).
¶ 1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
