“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you." 1 Peter 5:7

God is interested in everything going on with you. Everything you think, everything you say, everywhere you go, everything you do, everything and everyone you are involved with. Jesus is the friend who ‘sticks closer than a brother’. If you would like a relationship with somebody who cares - and is interested in you all the time- there you have it, anytime you want. How awesome is that?! While we are learning to recognize God’s voice and follow Him, He is already fully knowing us. While we are searching for Him, He is finding us. While we are waiting and longing, He is speaking and answering. Sometimes, He even comes right up to our door and rings the bell.

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, thank You so much for Your promises, that we can know Your voice and that You know us first. We desperately long for these truths to take deep root in our hearts. May Your love for us break through our fears and our unbelief. Show us today that You are near, that You know us and love us, and that we can grow in our knowing of You and Your voice. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“The One Who called you is faithful and will do what He promised.” 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (NLV)

Our confidence in God’s Word is rooted in our understanding of God’s character. So, next time your trust goes missing, don’t worry about chasing away your doubts. Choose to chase after God instead. Spend time getting to know Him on the pages of His Word. Listen for His voice. Pay attention to His presence. As you do, you’ll discover bold faith blooms best in the rich soil of relationship. And the more fully we know our Father’s heart, the more wholly we trust His Word.

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, sometimes I struggle to trust what You say, but I want to put my faith in Your Word. Please reveal more of Your heart to me today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had …” Romans 15:5 (NIV)

What’s considered “hard” in our lives isn't up for comparison. It's not up to us to decide what's hard. We just need to love others through their “hard”.
When we are faced with people going thru their “hard” & we don’t understand, we must ask the Holy Spirit to take hold of our mouth before we say anything insensitive or unkind and also ask the Holy Spirit to take hold of our heart so compassion can have her place. No matter what we’re all going through, our current situations may very well be hard — they’re just hard in different ways. We can’t allow all our focus to be on the hard. But we can love and encourage one another through the hard … and, in fact, that’s exactly what we’re called to do.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, please open my eyes to the challenges others around me are experiencing. Give me a Christ-like attitude toward them and a desire to love them well. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“[Jesus] was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples.’” Luke 11:1 (CSB)

Jesus didn’t give a bullet-point list of five ways to pray, offer an argumentative presentation trying to convince them of prayer’s efficacy or submit a case study on how it works. He simply prayed. Jesus taught His disciples how to pray by praying Himself. We know from the Gospels that Jesus prayed a lot. But He didn’t only do it to set an example for us; He also did it as the God-man because He had an intimate, dependent love relationship with the Father. In His humanity, He needed to talk with God. We know that Jesus grew in wisdom each year (Luke 2:52) and depended on the Holy Spirit to help Him. (Acts 10:37-38) He trusted the Father and His Word, learning obedience through suffering. (Hebrews 5:8) In all of this, He prayed both for Himself and for His disciples — talking with His Father about anything, any time, any place. Pray for yourself and your children to have eyes to see and a heart that loves talking with the Father about anything, any time, any place.

Prayer:
Father, please help me to model an authentic life of prayer and devotion to You. Work in my children’s hearts, as You have worked in mine, to draw them close to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)

If you find yourself sinking amid a trying season, and your trust is wavering — take heart! Not only is the Lord sovereign over every circumstance, but He’s with us in every circumstance. Our prayers have not been forgotten. Our loving Father has heard every word. He knows our struggles; He desires to lift us up and He is waiting to calm the storms within our hearts. We need only turn to Him and ask. I pray we all would be encouraged to do just that today.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I am humbled. Hallelujah — You are my assurance, and my circumstances are not! Open my eyes to Your gracious provisions. Embolden my trust in You that I might more clearly radiate Your peace and Your joy in my life today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you …” Ephesians 1:18 (NIV)

What happened to you wasn’t necessarily fair. It wasn’t right. It certainly wasn’t what you wanted. But what can God do with your life now? Where can you find joy? What remains that can be used for eternal purposes? Do you, in fact, believe that God has the power to enlighten the eyes of your heart to give you hope again, as Paul prays in our key verse?
I know you’ve been hurt. And oh, how this world is imperfect and hurtful. Yet, even with that being true, I hold tight to the promises that God still has good for us. Even in the hurt. Even despite the hurt. Even today. For me and for you.

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, give us eyes to see the good again. Help us to see good in our life and in people. Most of all, help us see and know of Your goodness that we might long to serve You more and more. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“They speak deceitful and worthless words to one another; With flattering lips and a double heart they speak.” Psalm 12:2 (AMP)

There is a cliché about giving excessive or insincere praise: “Flattery gets you nowhere.” While gossip can be defined as saying something behind someone’s back you’d never say to their face, flattery is the reverse. It is uttering words to someone’s face you’d never say behind their back … because those words are totally untrue. When we flatter, we lie, although we might not so readily admit it. The pages of Scripture are chock-full of warnings against this deceptive tool of flattery — a tool that often backfires. Usually we only have in mind what flattery can do for us — the immediate results we seek when we falsely inflate the ego of another person. But what does flattery do to us? Let’s not fool ourselves into thinking flattery doesn’t harm us. Have you ever felt a prick in your heart when you used words of flattery or failed to tell the truth when asked for your opinion by a friend? We might think we are looking out for the best interests of others. However, solid and lasting friendships are built on a foundation of honesty. Our human connections — whether with family, friends or coworkers — can become strengthened when we decide to be truthful. We can adopt a new habit of shooting straight while simultaneously expressing our love and care for others. Learning to express honesty tucked in an envelope of kindness can become one of the greatest areas of growth in our lives. Ultimately, it will propel us to deeper, more authentic and healthier relationships with others.

Prayer:
Father, help me not fall prey to utilizing flattery to obtain favor in my relationships. Help me kindly and gently speak the truth to others, knowing that not only is honesty the best policy, but also it pleases You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1, KJV

Faith isn’t merely feeling like God is telling the truth. Nor is it saying God is telling the truth. For faith to truly be faith, it involves acting like God is telling the truth. That’s why the Bible calls it walking by faith, not talking by faith or even feeling by faith. Unless your faith makes it all the way down to your feet, it’s not faith. What you believe about Him must be married to what you do in light of that belief. Exercising faith makes God’s involvement in your life not just a theory in your mind, but a reality in your life. God will give you the power and light you need when you need it, but He’ll wait until He detects motion on your part. If there’s no movement in faith, there’ll be no power in your life. The two are tied together. You must trigger the use of His power in your life, and you do that through actions carried out in faith.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for teaching me faith. I now know it involves action on my part. If I don’t move……then my faith lies dormant. Thank you for the power to walk according to Your will in my life. In Jesus Name, Amen

“Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.”
~1 Thessalonians 5:5
____________

Information and light is your portion. Your understanding of times and seasons is being perfected as we delve deeper into the Word of God. Let the authority of the Holy Ghost rest upon you. There is no way that you can remain in the presence of God and be in captivity unlawfully. Whatever was said upon your life by whoever does not matter; It is what God says that matters! Start moving in this Godly authority from today!

Prayer:
When you enter into territories may demons fall like lightning! May you go forth into your working week, knowing that you are not of the darkness but of the light!

“‘Yes, come,’ Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.” Matthew 14:29 (NLT)

When God’s plan for us feels long and divergent, take heart — He’s here, ordering every mile as we release our routes and join Him on the path He prepared in advance for us. (Ephesians 2:10). Sometimes faith looks like remaining on an unexpected path in life and choosing courage, resting in the assurance that the Guide of our lives will never lead us where His presence won’t meet us. When we’re tempted to rush toward plans we long for, eager to bypass unexpected routes, may we instead quiet our bustling spirits and press into the tender leadership of God. And when those times come along when our faith begins to sink, as Peter’s eventually did that night, and we’re distracted by the storms of life … even still, the very same Jesus who remained beside Peter to lift him up remains beside us, ready to answer our cries for help. (Matthew 14:30-33)

Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank You for being the Guide of my life. Please help me surrender my will to Your way today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time … For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy” (Hebrews 10:10, 14, NLT).

While I am acutely aware of my sin and often feel so unworthy, Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross nullifies the consequences of my sin and overrides my feelings with truth. And the truth is that by accepting Jesus’ death on the cross for our sins, we are made holy, fulfilling God’s desire for us! Because the blood of the perfect Lamb makes us holy, we can enter into the Most Holy Place to meet with God directly. No more condemnation because Christ has reconciled us with the Father and made us accepted. We are no longer separated. We are wanted. We are loved. We are holy, forever united with God.

Prayer:
Dear Father,
Your extravagant love for us blows my mind. Thank You for Your grand plan to send Jesus to the cross to cover our sins. I’ll never fully comprehend how we are made holy in Your sight, but I choose to receive it, embrace it, yearn for it and walk in it.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.” Proverbs 13:12 (ESV)

Have you ever struggled because you know God can do anything, but you can’t understand why He doesn’t seem to be intervening in your situation right now? You’re trying to hang on to hope, but the more time passes without any apparent change, the harder it is. That’s why God didn’t want Adam and Eve to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The knowledge it would give them was a burden God never wanted them to carry. And maybe that’s why we don’t have all the answers to our “why” questions. God isn’t trying to be distant or mysterious or hard to understand. He’s being merciful. We don’t have to know the plan to trust there is a plan. We don’t have to feel good to trust there is good coming. We don’t have to see evidence of change to trust that it won’t always be this hard. We just have to close our physical eyes and turn our thoughts to Jesus. Fix our thoughts on Him. Say His Name over and over and over. And know that we can trust our Father’s heart and His plans.

Prayer:
Father God, You keep showing me that I don’t need answers. I need Jesus. Help me stop the madness of my own assumptions of how things must turn out. My soul was made for assurance. And that is exactly what You have given me. The divine assurance of Your Son. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people. Afterward he did the same with the fish. And they all ate as much as they wanted.” John 6:11 (NLT)

Collaboration is my favorite kind of work. I call it “Together Work.” Collaboration, partnering with someone who can bring their specific skills and gifts to the table, always makes me far more effective — in my writing, thinking, creating, parenting. Together Work always makes me better. The Holy Spirit offers the most powerful kind of Together Work. We can do most things ourselves, but partnering with the effectiveness of the Holy Spirit multiplies everything. God can take our small offering and do something we could never imagine. God’s part in Together Work is in the hidden work that we cannot see. It’s invisible, silent and subtle — yet He gives us the strength, wisdom, rest and renewal that only He can provide. When we show up to do our work, we make space for God to do His. When we make ourselves available, He makes Himself accessible. Together Work.

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank You for the gift of Together Work. Help me to know that nothing is too small to place in Your hands and that whatever I offer You will multiply in ways I could never imagine. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[08/31/21]   *Thoughtful Tuesday:*

“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (NLT)

In John 16, Jesus is warning His disciples that life is about to get stressful. He encourages them not to abandon their faith and to remember He will always be with them. Jesus was trying to explain His upcoming crucifixion and assure them that, although He would be leaving them, He would also be returning. But the disciples were confused and concerned.
So, in verse 33, He reassures them that, no matter what happens in their earthly life, they can always remain peaceful in Him. Just like the disciples, we, too, can quickly allow the uncertainties and troubles of life to steal God’s peace from our hearts, setting ourselves on a path to chronic stress and anxiety, which is unhealthy for us mentally, emotionally and even physically. Despite the fact that the word “stress” is not mentioned in the Bible, Jesus addressed it nonetheless. If you have been searching for a peace and serenity that seems completely out of reach, maybe you have simply been searching in all the wrong places. Stress is an outward indication of an inner situation — a situation of a heart that needs the peace of Jesus.

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, I desperately need Your peace in the midst of today’s chaotic times and my own personal stressors that I am facing. Fill me with a peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
