There was a time when all you needed to succeed was the ability to read and write English.

After that came the era of university degree. In fact, you had the chances of getting a good job with a good salary.

Then came the era of Masters and PhD. The demands of the Labour market went higher. You had to have a masters or PhD to get a good job.

Before long it became the era of foreign degrees... employers started looking for people from foreign universities.

Now that era has ended: We are now in the era of skills. What you know and what you can do with your brain or your hands. Your level of education notwithstanding; what matters right now is the skills that you have especially new age/digital skills.

So I ask you, what are you doing to remain relevant in this season? ✍🏼✍🏼

Are you still carrying your certificate up and down with obsolete knowledge?🤔🤔
Or you are still blaming the government that is not even aware of your existence?😢😢

Do you even understand that "WORK" as we knew it ten years back has changed?

Are you aware that by 2025, machines and robots would have cleaned out 800,000 jobs and new market demands will evolve?

Are you preparing for the future of work or you will cross that bridge when you get there?

It will be in your best interest to start to UNLEARN, LEARN AND RELEARN.

Invest in yourself, upgrade on a daily basis.
Pay the price.
You can't afford the price of ignorance and poverty. Its too expensive!🎯🎯```

Help realign the priorities of those you love including your kids so that they remain relevant during their era by exposing them to profitable skills side by side the normal classroom education 👊🏿

Child of God,

You are a work of God!

God has defined your destiny! You have a great purpose in the grand plan with God.

Like Joseph, a day cometh when ‘Pharaoh’ will dream a dream and you’ll be the only one that can interpret it.

Your destiny is beyond the boundaries of your kin and folk, your nation and your generation; you carry generational blessings. You are anointed for a purpose!

There’s no other report against you that can stand; plug into the dream and vision that God has for you.

You have a relationship with God; design and define your life by the Word of God. Do not limit yourself to what you can predict.

You have the seed of God in you; you are the hope of the nations for revival, reformation, deliverance, establishment, justice, peace and healing.

The grace and purpose of God will carry you through all things; your story is being woven by God and leading you from one level of glory into another.

You were called to make headlines; you are city on a hill, the light and salt of the earth; refuse to live a life that will not be written about!

Do not despise the great vision of God for your life because of what seems humanly impossible, only believe! Look to Jesus and live!
God will fulfill, it will come to pass.

Let go of the lesser things and get hold of the bigger picture! Everything that God has put in you must come out! Praise God.

INVESTMENT VEHICLES TO GROW YOUR MONEY

There is a common question that people often ask me. I have one million shillings or two or ten or fifty million shillings; where can I invest it and grow it? Many have put their money in fake deals and scams such a pyramid schemes. Others have put theirs in real businesses but burnt their fingers because they went to wrong ventures or perhaps those people weren't even suitable for business at all (not everyone can do business; that's a fact).

My answer to the question on where to put money starts with understanding the difference between #Business and #Investment. Business is where you work for money using a system that avails goods or services to customers. It has the potential to give you very high returns (you could triple your capital in a year or less) but it also has very high risks (you could lose all your capital and even enter debt in a short time and I have gone through that). But generally, for people who are enterprising, business is a fast way of making money.

On the other hand, investment is where money works for you (unlike business and employment where you work for money). Examples of investments include shares (stock market), trees, land, buildings (properties), treasury bills and bonds, e.t.c. These may not bring very high returns (they can give you profit/interest of about 10-30% of your money every year) but the risk is so low and sometimes not there like in the case of fixing your money with banks or investing it in treasury bills and government bonds.

For the entrepreneurs that I mentor, I always endeavour to teach them how to balance the two portfolios such that some of the capital is put into business and the rest into investments and also to ensure that one has multiple streams of income. And for those who are in employment, don't think about business; it hardly works. My advice is that you consider the money you get from your job as seed capital and put it into investments; you will thank me later.

Improvements on Property

When you set out to rent a property for accommodation or business; you are pulled to make improvements on the property. This may include painting the house or building structures on the land. The law classifies these as chattels or fixtures. The idea is that at the end of the tenure there will be legal implications on who owns what.

Chattels are movable items which the tenant can easily carry away at the end of their tenure e.g. a mirror or air conditioning system; without changing the nature of the house or land. Fixtures on the other hand are chattels attached to land in such a way as to become part of the land. In law, objects once placed on the land lose their character as chattels and become part of the land and therefore property of the land owner. Therefore the landlord is not obliged to compensate the tenant for objects which have become permanently attached to the land.

What qualifies an object to be a fixture is the degree of its attachment to the land and the purpose for which it was put there. For example if you lease a land and construct permanent buildings on it, they are affixed to the land by other means rather than their weight. Therefore the buildings belongs to the owner of the land. Case in point is when you purchase a land and it has buildings on it,in law you own the buildings also because they are permanently affixed to the land.

When you add anything to the house or land and your intention was that it permanently attaches to the land, it belongs to landowner upon expiry of your tenure. The landlord will not be obliged in law to compensate you for painting his house or improving it.

How to Start attracting Big Clients;

I was invited to speak at the Elevate conference where I shared my startup journey.
After my presentation one gentleman asked me a question.
“ Thank you for this enlightening motivation , my name is .. and I do Welding and Metal Fabrication on a small scale.
How can I attract big clients ?”
I have been asked this question a number of times and would like to give some insights to any startup out there.
I know this is a common problem and It is a make or break point where the small companies seek to graduate from servicing small clients to big clients.
I faced the same situation at when I had just started Hostalite . We were known as a small Web hosting company and here we were, trying to forge our way into the corporate market.
I remember a particular scenario when i was called to present a website sample design that i was proposing for this big company.
I was shocked when the MD asked me to pause midway as she looked for tissue to first clean my laptop just because the screen was so dusty. I felt so small, I was embarrassed.
She showed me how dirty my laptop was, I don't know what other assumptions she made ( may be she also thought/ assumed that I hadn't taken a shower or brushed my teeth, who knows)
Well, I had walked in dust for about 1km, I waited outside her office to first cool down, I still don't remember if I had had breakfast then...but that's never a client's Business.
I lost that business which would have paid all our bills for one year, you can imagine how I felt.
It was an eye opener for me and this is what I learnt,
IF YOU WANT TO ATTRACT BIG CLIENTS, APPEAR BIG AND PROFESSIONAL.
Avoid small but sensitive mistakes like.
1.Sitting before your host offers you that seat.
2.Reaching a Client's office and you start narrating how you almost had fight with a taxi conductor because they never gave you your 500 shs balance forgetting that it's none of their business. It even shows that you at the 500 shs level..
