[07/14/21]   You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.

Repeat three times)
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion — inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.

PRAYE OF ST. MICHEAL THE ARCHANGEL

"Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen."

DAY 9 : “TO REKINDLE IN THE WORLD LOVE THAT DIES OUT”

Meditation of Marthe :

“A soul can only give the others what overflows from it, only the surplus given to it.” “Thanks to Jesus, over all thanks to our good Mother, I know, better and better, how to dissimulate all that reminds that I am sick, and not to say anything about the evils I ceaselessly suffer and of which I talk very little. I want everything around me and in me to radiate harmony, holy contentment, joy and huge goodness of the heart.” “Kindness is the charity that gives itself, the patience that bears, the strength and the peace that are transmitted from one heart to everybody's hearts…. Joy is the radiant disposition of the soul turned towards its God.”

What should I draw from this today ?

To love, first let's welcome the Love of God within us. It will show us how to love concretely, how to take care of the others with delicacy, how to serve with joy, how to share human warmth, goodness, benevolence, how to show compassion, welcome the others as they are, accompany them, pray for them. All this life of love is within our reach. Let's learn how to develop the flower of gratitude, how to train ourselves to the joy that radiates and warms up, how to live this concrete and daily love that ‘divinises' our humanity: it is the way to holiness proposed by Marthe.

DAY 8 : THE VIRGIN MARY AS THE ‘SECRET' OF LIFE

Meditation of Marthe:

“I have always loved the Holy Virgin, I used to pray her, speak to her over all….. We must speak to her like a child speaks to his/her mum. This Mother loves us with a real motherly love. She loves us, in spite of our defects, because of our weakness. Doesn't a mother always have more affection for the weakest and the sickliest of her children?” “Mary comes to the rescue of all the humans. It is all her human family she protects, she comforts, she cures, she encourages, she supports, she wants to save…. Praying Mary is not to tell her many words, but always to live with her. Mary shapes Jesus in us.”

What should I draw from this today ?

Marthe encourages us to enter the mystery of the motherhood of Mary, to trust her for all the necessities of our concrete life. Let's take Mary in our lives, let's love her. For her, nobody is too small or too far, she personally bends over each of us. At Nazareth, Mary lived our daily life; that is what makes her so near to us. Let's cultivate this proximity with her, with our faith, with the rosary, invoking all along the day with small inner ‘SMS'. She will make the divine life received at our baptism, ‘this beautiful life of love' where joy, tenderness, forgiveness, mercy, irrigate more and more our relationships and our way of being. Living one's baptismal life with Mary and in Mary is an authentic way to holiness.

DAY 7 : IN AND FOR THE CHURCH

Meditation of Marthe

“We are a part of Jesus in his Mystical Body whose members we are. The smallest among us only has to let themselves carry away by this great wave of divine life that took its source in the virginal bosom of Mary and flow through the world, to be incorporated and divinised in Christ.” “I love the Church, and I am inside. With the Church and within the Church.”

What should I draw from this today ?

Baptized, we are co-responsible for the life and beauty of the Church, by our personal union to Christ and our life, enlightened by the Word of God. Like Marthe, let's love the Church. Let's pray for the Pope who, so often, asks us to do so, for the bishops, all the priests entrusted with leading and sanctifying the people of God; let's be eager to be witnesses of Christ in our living and working environments. Yes, let's love the Church, where ‘everyone has their place and is at their place' as Marthe says, the Church where lay people and priests work together, “not the ones without the others, nor the ones like the others, but always the ones with the others.”

DAY 6 : TO LIVE UNITED TO JESUS DAILY

Meditation of Marthe :

All the Christian religion is in the union of the soul to God through Jesus Christ, nothing more, everything is there.” “All the days when I don't have the sweet happiness of receiving the Holy Eucharist, and several times a day, I take communion spiritually, the communion of the spirit and of the heart. In my sick life, how sweet it has been to receive communion of desire!” Moreover, “every will of God carried out for love is (…) a communion to the holiness of God.

What should I draw from this today ?

One of the fruit of the life of offering, is the union to God, in the Eucharist and all day long. Marthe, a mystic of the Eucharist, also knew precariousness in this domain. Like her, we can ceaselessly live united to Jesus and seek, in all that happens to us, what God wishes, in order to respond accordingly. We have to be willing, and attentive to the suggestions of the Spirit. Little by little, Jesus transforms us insofar as we wish to belong to him and let him do. Let's open ourselves to his constant presence, let's let him bless us, lift us up, visit our weakness, our wounds and put his peace in our torn and tormented hearts.

DAY 5 : TO MAKE OF ONE'S LIFE AN OFFERING

Meditation of Marthe :

From his heaven of glory, he comes down to the crib, from the crib to the immolation of the cross, from the cross to the annihilation of the altar, from the altar into the heart of his creature…. He could not give more, he did not want to give less. Love has transcended the words. It is on us to give by giving ourselves totally. » « God does not ask us for words, what he wants overall and at all costs, it is our heart with all its beats, our life with all its actions, our soul and all our love.

What should I draw from this today ?

At the offertory of the mass, the priest takes the hosts and the wine, he lifts them up and presents them to God. Then, inwardly, we can unite ourselves to Jesus' offering, place on the paten all our life, our human reality – our senses, our thoughts, our will, our affections, our pains, our struggles, our efforts, our good actions – and offer them to the Father, with Jesus, for the whole world, for a person in difficulty, for an intention of prayer given to us. So, our Christian life can receive a priceless worth.

DAY 4 : CONTEMPLATING JESUS' PASSION OF LOVE

Meditation of Marthe :

My mission is to show to the world that God loved us madly, until martyrdom and the most complete immolation. » « Ah ! in those moments of pains and love, to comfort Jesus and rescue him, how I wish I could have told him again and again – from the bottom of my heart to be seen and heard only by him - my love and my greatfulness.

What should I draw from this today ?

Gratitude, gratefulness are a prominence of Marthe's spirituality. To know how to thank the Lord for what he has done for us. In front of a crucifix, a picture of Jesus or the tabernacle of a church, if only we could stop a few moments and tell Him inwardly : ‘Thank you for what you have done for me.' In Marthe's steps, let's watch the body of Jesus on the cross. By his feet nailed on the wood, he allows me to make steps for a reconciliation ; by his head surrounded by thorns, little by little , if I open myself to him, he comes to heal my memory ; by his heart open with the spear, he can crack my heart of stone, if I ask him…. Paradoxically, the death of Jesus is not an end, but a source.

DAY 3 : INTERIORITY, A WAY TO HAPPINESS

Meditation of Marthe :

Immersed in physical inaction, alas, my life remains very dense ; much more actually, because I am living from the life of my soul. » « One must never stay at the threshold of one's soul, one must get deep inside, and there, reflect, meditate, work and let oneself be worked…. face to face with God.

What should I draw from this today ?

From external solitude we can get into a chosen interiority. The intimacy with God, with the Holy Trinity who has inhabited us since our baptism, is not reserved to a category of people. It is the privilege of every christian.

In order to be full, life must be deep….. And depth is reached through one-on-One times, or, as Marthe said, heart-to-Heart with God… happiness is there !

The community of Namugongo Kyoto with some of the guests cutting a golden cake to mark the 50 years of Namugongo Kyoto

The Foyer de Charite (Namugongo Kyoto) are communities that welcome people throughout the year for spiritual silent retreats, of believers and non-believers who would want to know their roots of faith or fundamentals of the Catholic Church.

Founded in France in 1936 by Marthe Robin and Father George Finet. The Foyers of Charity are communities of lay baptized persons men and women who, living together with a priest as a Father of the Foyer. They respond to the call of God; they engage themselves in announcing the Gospel and live their life as a family. They put their goods in common, material, intellectual and spiritual. Their work of welcome and prayer is a testimony from charity, Love of God and Light (Fraternal life). They are 80 Foyers around the world.
