We Do Not Run To Come In First, But To Finish Faithfully -

Why would anyone want to become a Christian during these first three centuries? Persecution was fierce and universal. We need to be informed as to how persecution is spreading rapidly today.

In the beginning, there was nowhere to hide, and there was no social benefit whatsoever in being disciples of Jesus Christ.
These early disciples enjoyed and appreciated communion with God, through Jesus Christ. As they were loved and empowered by God they became salt and light, challenging many forms of darkness. Regarding this calling of God, holy as it, and depending upon our answering His holy call, they discovered it to be all of grace.

We too are called to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

God seldom calls a person to do what by human ability he is able to do. We see that in the lives of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Gideon and Jeremiah. Read their stories as recorded in the Bible. Almighty God provided them with what they needed, to do what they were called to do.

When today’s disciples wonder what it is all about at times, this clear guidance shines – fix your eyes on Jesus. Keep running your race faithfully, and keep your eyes on Jesus who is the trailblazer, the author and finisher of our faith.

There are times when the disciple has to make that deliberate decision to look away from all else to Jesus Christ, the Saviour.
In the book of Hebrews these disciples knew the meaning of endurance. As they ran their race they were able to overcome various pain barriers – two of which can be ‘growing weary’ and ‘losing heart’. They did not have an easy time. Neither did Jesus Christ. Be prepared for struggles and keep focused and faithful.

We do not run to come in first, but to finish faithfully. Read Hebrews Chapters 11 and 12 and be encouraged and strengthened – and nourished from God’s holy Word.

When we hear, or read, of men of faith, there is always that element where each acted on the basis of his faith. They did something, obeying God, having taking risks.

They were prepared to look foolish, or be regarded as peculiar, and then there came that day when their names appeared in an honours list in the book of Hebrews. They had pleased God. Without faith it is impossible to please God – Hebrews Chapter 11 verse 6.

Men and women of faith are encouraged to run the race marked out for them and to run with perseverance and endurance. Is this not the salient and significant evidence of Christian discipleship? God calls us to persevering faith, demonstrating endurance and continuance – a going on.

It takes courage to persevere and endure, and the writer to the Hebrews is addressing discouraged disciples.

In the military context, perseverance means you stand your ground through all the battlefield dangers, refusing to flee, or run away.

In the athletic context, perseverance speaks of not falling back, or dropping out.

If the Christian life was regarded as some kind of ‘jolly picnic’
there would be no need for this type of language.
The disciple of Jesus was taught to throw off everything that hindered and hampered progress – getting rid of burdens, weights, and sins, that could entrap, ensnare, and entangle.

Worry, discouragement, immorality, lust, greed, addiction, fear, and various other emotions, can be impediments which disable disciples in the heat of the battle.

Many things may be legitimate, but the Christian soldier lays them aside as he prepares and runs the race marked out.

AGON is the word used for race from which we get ‘agony’, implying self control in every area of life – a disciplined disciple. Is that you?

Let me encourage you in these times to keep running – to persevere and endure – so that you may finish faithfully.

“Lord God Almighty – as we bow before You in Worship and Praise – and with thanksgiving for all that we have in Christ Jesus – help us serve with perseverance and endurance. Rid me of whatever might hinder and hamper – so that I might fight the good fight – finish the race – and keep the faith. Lord, I realise that if I do not keep the faith, it will be difficult to fight the good fight and finish the race – so help me – risen, living, loving Jesus. Amen.”

Essential Anchors in the Storms of Life

As we move forward in Christ Jesus, how are our anchors?

Turn to Acts Chapter 27 at verse 29 – have we got sufficient anchors on board our lives for what we might face in the future?

Are we strong enough for the day of the storm? Are we strong enough in Christ Jesus for the days and weeks that lie ahead?

Are the anchors strong enough for the strains and pressures which will confront us? It could be very stormy indeed.

Remember – an army prepares for war in times of peace!
Some people’s faith is a fair weather thing – that will not be much good in traumatic times.

When we know we are going to face more than calm seas and favourable breezes, we have to take time to sit down with the Captain of our ship, Jesus Christ, and prepare for the gales and rocks and angry buffeting waves.

God’s goodness and grace and providence can hold back certain storms for a season – but they will come.

Here was a ship labouring against this tempestuous wind Euroclydon. It is called a ‘northeaster’, in verse 14, and off the island of Malta there were dangerous rocks.
“They dropped four anchors from the stern and prayed for daylight.”

Have you ever prayed for the daylight to come – when the night was too dark and when the night seemed too long?

In 1980 in Wisconsin outside Minneapolis we were faced with a tornado. I have never experienced such winds. We were told things would quieten down when daylight appeared.

There are worse winds in life than Euroclydon and stormier seas than the Mediterranean – and crueller jaggier rocks than those off the island of Malta. How strong are our anchors?

“They dropped four anchors.” Do we have four and can we put names to them – remembering that there are more than four available in our life – but to have fewer than four would be highly risky!

There is only one other place where the word anchor occurs and it is in Hebrews in Chapter 6 verse 19 – where the anchor is called HOPE.
Hope is assurance – or certainty!
When hope goes – when assurance goes – when a man is no longer certain about Jesus Christ and His Word – the heart can grow heavy – and buoyancy can give way to cynicism. It is then the ship can go under!

This is Christian Hope – not a vague temperamental optimism – not a pathetic waiting for something to turn up. We get this from gazing upon the face of Jesus Christ and grounding our certainty in the Scriptures. This is not day dreaming, nor building castles in the air.

Listen to Paul in Romans 15 verse 13 – “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
The God of hope – it is God who creates hope – and imparts hope.

Think of that Psalmist whose life seemed to be hurtling towards the rocks. He cries out, “Why are you cast down O my soul – why are you so disquieted within me? Hope in GOD!”

If plans are ruined and dreams disappear and things you may have longed for are not appearing – you can still hold onto the God of hope.

There is another anchor. What can we call this one? DUTY – we have all kinds of duties to perform in our lives.

The discipline of duty is not a chain that limits and restricts. Why should I have to do this? Why should I be held down in this way? Why can my life not be just the way I want it?
It is the rebel who cries – “the whole system is hard and cruel and unjust”.

Duty is an anchor of the soul. Think of the duties which God gave for His chosen people – Passover – Yom Kippur – the Feast of Tabernacles – the detail of the Tabernacle itself.

Give thanks for the duty of worship – although it is more than a duty. It is a delight and a joy and a privilege.

There is the duty of work – and it is only when there is no work that we discover what can happen.

We cannot solve all the problems – but we can serve people with problems.

“Loving gracious Father – whatever storms are facing us at this time, may we know that we are anchored to You, and that You are anchored to us, through Jesus Christ. Increase our hope – our certainty. Enable us to fulfil our duties graciously, and with joy – hear us, as we pray in Jesus Name.”

(This week's "Word from Scotland" - previous articles may be found at and in the 'Archives' section - warmest greetings in Christ Jesus.)
Peace – God’s Will for You

What type of year has it been for you? Whatever has happened in your life, each of us is going to need that real peace – the peace of God – and only Jesus Christ can impart this quality and depth of peace.

We read in John 14 verse 27 of Peace – we read of Jesus Christ’s last will and testament – Jesus Christ is making His Will. This is His legacy.

Jesus had nothing else to leave – no money – no property or material possessions, to divide among the men He called and trained and discipled and loved.

He bequeathed His peace. Could there have been a more priceless possession than that – and at that particular time?
How often we pray – grant me Peace – let Your Peace be with me – may I know Your Peace.
“Take from our souls the strain and stress, and let our ordered lives confess the beauty of Thy peace.”

Our modern lives are assaulted, and even invaded, by so much noise – and rush – and perhaps pressure of burdens – that peace can become an illusive quality or possession.

Is it the fault of the world around us – or society in general – the worry and fret and fear – things do not go as we thought they would – they never do!

These disciples of Jesus were facing days of turmoil – and then years of turmoil in various shapes and forms.

There was a word which came to me yesterday morning – ‘TURBULENCE’. We are going to experience quite a bit of turbulence over these next weeks and months – fasten your spiritual seat belt NOW – before it is too late. In the physical realm, we prepare for war in times of peace.

The peace which Jesus offered had little to do with a sheltered life of ease and relaxation.

“My peace I give to you.” My peace – the peace that I have known over these past years – I give to you – attacked by the devil – hunted – criticised – aware of plots and schemes to get rid of Him.

Jesus did not speak of His peace often but you can sense it on various pages of the Gospels – the paralysed man – the l***r – the storm on the lake – the 5,000 hungry men when there were only five little loaves and two fish – and very little privacy, as people sought Him.

O, the disciples wanted to call down fire upon a Samaritan village – but not so Jesus.

When Jesus spoke on the Lake – “Peace be still” – was He not also speaking to fearful hearts, as well as to the raging winds and waters?

They warned Him about going to Jerusalem – there is danger in the air – they are out to get You – but He went!

Jesus appeared to exude and display an inner calm and poise. Jesus was always in control of the situation and the circumstances.
From Bethlehem to Nazareth and from Nazareth to Calvary, there is this strong untroubled peace.

O that was all right for Jesus! It was marvellous and magnificent, and we like to read of it – and sing of it – but for us – never?

My peace I give to you – to you who know what it is to be upset and concerned and wondering what is going to happen – to you who are going to run away and disappear when I am arrested and crucified.

We have just finished a series of daily Bible readings on the theme – “Strong at the Broken Places”. We can become stronger as a result of our weaknesses – our risen and living and forgiving and loving Saviour is able to turn our weakness into strength. Nobody else can do that. (The Bible reading notes are from “Every Day with JESUS” if you are interested – and the theme starting tomorrow is “Hold the Line”.)

Jesus had the peace of adequate resources. Jesus knew He would make it through these three years.

Jesus knew He would make it through these next 24 hours.
His resources were in His Father – His Father’s care and love, and that ability to raise Him from the dead. Jesus knew that.

I cannot find a moment when Jesus wondered as to what He would do next.

As you look back on the year which is over, and look forward and ahead to another year, may you know the peace of God – and the presence and power of the Holy Spirit – as you travel through these next days and weeks.

“Loving Father, we take this moment to bow in worship and give thanks. Another year closes and soon a ‘fresh page’ will confront us. As we give thanks for Your presence and for the blessings we have experienced, enable us to trust You totally, for the days and weeks which lie ahead, as we serve and preach and teach and testify – we pray in Jesus Name. Amen”.

"Uncertainty is a perpetual constant for any schools worker. You're uncertain of how many children will turn up (if any), what their behaviour will be like and whether things are going in or not. One of my Christian Union groups is just like this.
"Recently I felt like giving up, but decided to ask a dangerous question: 'What did they want to talk about?' Their collective answer? Pornography. What initially seemed like a huge mistake, quickly turned into a God-opportunity. We all spoke candidly about what God says in relation to pornography, wrestled with Scripture and offered them advice if they felt stuck in an addictive cycle. A week later, one boy told us that he had not watched pornography since our last session.
"That very moment proved to me that there was no way I could ever give up on those young people. God never does, so why should I? I'm so encouraged seeing God work through my weakness and some honest conversation"

One of our 10:2s shares their experience seeing God break in to a lunch group. Be encouraged, more is happening than you may see or know.

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing (John 15:5).

The Lord Jesus is the Vine and we’re the branches. That means we’re of the same stalk. The same life that’s in the Vine flows through the branches and as a result, we’re ordained to a fruitful and productive life. Not only is the Lord interested in you bearing fruits, He also wants you to bear lasting fruits: “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain…” (John 15:16).

Remember, He said every branch in the Vine that’s unfruitful is taken away, but every branch that bears fruit is purged and pruned to bear more fruit (John 15:2). He continually works in you so you can keep bearing fruit; we belong in the “much fruit” class. If you’re bringing forth fewer fruits, it’s because you chose to. You have the ability to bring forth much fruits; He chose and ordained you for that: read our opening scripture again.

God has programmed you, consecrated and anointed you to bring forth fruits, which means there’s no room for failure in your life. Everything you do prospers; anything you’re involved in grows; you’re productive in all seasons. Psalm 1:3 puts it clearly: you’re like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth fruit in season; your leaf also never withers, and whatsoever you do, prospers.

I’m fruitful and productive because Christ is in me, and I’m in Him; we’re of the same stalk. Everything I do prospers, and I’m making progress from glory to glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The heaviest burden we carry, the most devastating yoke for many of us is lack of forgiveness.

You are still mourning and blaming your academic failure, mourning the loss of a loved one ten years ago, angry about your loss of job, bitter about a relationship that failed, everyday looking at a scar suffered in a conflict, regretting a deal gone sour, money lost, accident that resulted in a permanent injury or false witness against you.

It happened to you and it has happened to many. Some got out of it much better while others never got out of it. Some were even killed by it. You can't change the event, you can't move the clock back. But you have the power and the choice to change how you feel about it. It's TRUE. Forgiveness is letting go of the hope that the past can be changed.

If somebody put poison in your mouth and you haven't swallowed it yet, how long are you willing to hold it in the mouth as evidence for the world to see? If someone threw a red hot piece of charcoal on your bear hands how long can you persevere the burning waiting for the world to see the evidence? Who is actually burning, the thrower of the charcoal or you? How long will you keep crying and chaining yourself?

Unforgiveness is like cancer, it will eat you from inside, slowly and painless at times. You keep wasting away in stress, migraine headaches, ulcers, high blood pressure, depression, stroke, madness until one day it blows out - and you are gone.

Even if you think whoever did it doesn't deserve forgiveness, YOU deserve your peace - your life. Why must you allow a one off event deny you the very essence of your being in this world? - YOUR LIFE.

Forgiveness is the economy of the heart, it saves the expense of anger, the cost of hatred and eventual loss of life.

FORGIVE TODAY, tomorrow may be too late!

But when it rains the bad beans becomes seed and grows up and look beautiful. The same person who threw them away starts to harvest them. She realizes that the beans she threw away has value. Brethren, don't cry when people throw you at the backyard; don't cry when people rejects you; don't cry while they are looking down on you. The rain is coming and the same people who are rejecting you today will invite you. God loves those that are left out, rejected and looked upon. Suddenly, it turned and bit the saw, and biting the saw, the snake seriously got wounded in its mouth! *Sometimes we react in anger to hurt those who have harmed us, but we realize after all that we are being hurt ourselves*.
*In life it is better sometimes to ignore situations, ignore people, ignore their behaviors, their words.*
*Sometimes it is better not to react so as not to suffer consequences that can sometimes be deadly or harmful.*
*Do not let hate take over your life because love is stronger than anything.*

So how do we live to obtain a big reward from Jesus? How do we earn a "well done" from Christ? *( Matt 25:21)*

The answer can be found in many Bible verses. *Romans 8*tells us to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh! Most times however, we find ourselves walking in the flesh...which we can change with the required discipline to embrace Christ.

Spending quality time alone with Jesus and His Word, meditating on it and allowing His word to become part of us is bound to guide us to the Lord! Life today is hectic, we are clouded by busy schedules, social media, television none of which builds us spiritually and that is something that the devil loves.

Its often been said "we become like the people we spend time with", who then is better than Jesus? Bare in mind that one day, all true Christians will spend eternity with Him, let's get used to His company now were it matters so much and ensure our place in heaven as we walk in the spirit, as He did !

*Read: Rom 8:1-11 and Gal 2-:20*

*Prayer:* Heavenly Father, help me know and have Godly priorities in my life so I can evaluate how I spend my time and not waste it on things that have no eternal value! It is a blessing to spend time with Jesus and be more like Him, so I ask you this day to help me make it my number one priority today and everyday of my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Hello beloved saints,
I'm sure you know that New international
version(NIV) was published by Zondervan but
is now OWNED by Harper Collins, who also
publishes the Satanic Bible and The Joy of
Gay Sex.
The NIV and English Standard Version (ESV)
has now removed 64,575 words from the Bible
including Jehovah, Calvary, Holy Ghost and
omnipotent to name but a few...
The NIV and ESV has also now removed 45
complete verses. Most of us have the Bible on
our devices and phones especially OLIVE TREE
Try and find these scriptures in NIV and ESV
on your computer, phone or device right now if
you are in doubt:
Matthew 17:21, 18:11, 23:14; Mark 7:16, 9:44,
9:46; Luke 17:36, 23:17; John 5:4; Acts 8:37 will not believe your eyes.
Refuse to be blinded by Satan, and do not act
like you just don't care. Let's not forget what
the Lord Jesus said in John 10:10 (King
James Version)
If you must use the NIV and ESV,
BIBLE. A Hard Copy cannot be updated. All
these changes occur when they ask you to
update the app. On your phone or laptop etc.
There is a crusade geared towards altering the
Bible as we know it; NIV, ESV and many more
versions are affected.
Rapture will take place any time from now.
Everything hindering the rapture has been
removed. Gospel has been preached almost
everywhere, all the prophecies has been
fulfilled. The devil is working very hard to
occupy Christians with the things of this world
so that the day will catch them unaware.
Please be prepared, there is no more time, Use
the advantage of sms,WhatsApp, BBM,
Facebook, twitter etc to send this message to
at least 10 people. Do not ignore. This is also
a source of evangelism, souls are dying. God
