_"So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong." 1 Kings 3:9_

To discern, is the ability to correctly tell or judge between right and wrong; it is what draws the line between the lies and the truth. Here is a youthful king picking up from such a great legacy of his father king David. It wasn't going to be an easy baton to pick up, and so when God gave Solomon the opportunity to ask for anything and that he would give to him whatever he asks, the youthful king asked for a heart of discernment.

Contrary to what many young people in our day would ask for, he didn't assume that he knew it all; he didn't try to depend on his father's record or even delight in the fact that this was his moment to shine! No, Solomon knew this was a new page that had been turned for him and the nation of Israel. And so, he asked for a discerning heart so that he could lead God's people. How many times have we taken on assignments, job opportunities and relationships simply because we "know how to" figure it out!

With so many counterfeits in our generation that come in different forms, we need to sincerely ask God for a heart of discernment!

_"Hurry! Don't slow down unless I tell you." 2 Kings 4:24_

The Shunammite woman had just lost her son whom the Lord had given her through Elisha's prophecy. Her son meant a great deal to her because she had been barren and her husband was now very old. In other words, this was a miracle baby! She had to act fast to have her son restored back to her and so she told her servant to ride fast and not slow down unless she told him to do so.

I believe this is the mindset that we ought to carry when that which is dear to us and that which God has entrusted to us is dying on us; we need not slow down. We can't afford to slow down on praying for our loved ones, preaching the gospel to our generation that's so desperately in need of a moral and spiritual renewal and we can't tire from working to ensure that the spirit of our country is freed from corruption and all the evils that wreck our society! In all we do, we must not slow down!

God's not silent! He is working in ways we cannot see!

Even we think God is silent, He's actually watching and working. He's God and even during this pandemic, we are not without hope. God neither sleeps nor slumbers!#HopeInTheMidstofCOVID

_"You will see neither wind nor rain, yet you and your other animals will drink." 2 Kings 3:17_

Here was a combined army of Israelites, Judah and Edomites advancing in battle against the Moabites. However, they had run out of water for themselves and their animals. King Jehoshaphat suggests that they inquire of the Lord through a prophet. In return, the Lord instructed them to simply "make this valley full of ditches" (v.16). The amazing thing is that they would see neither wind nor rain, but there would be water eventually!

God works in ways our finite minds cannot fully imagine or comprehend (Ephesians 3:20). All we have to do is simply obey His instructions, act upon His word and trust that He is able to fulfill that which He has promised. Therefore, purpose not to put God in a shell of how you expect things to happen, rather trust in His ability to bring water even when you don't see the wind nor the rain!

_"First seek the counsel of the Lord." 1 Kings 22:5_

Here was Ahab, king of Israel wanting to retake Ramoth Gilead from the king of Aram. His intention was to take back what once belonged to them.

However, Jehoshaphat king of Judah, who was on a state visit, urged Ahab that before he did anything, he should "first seek the counsel of the Lord." Ahab instead, turned to his 400 prophets who always prophesied what he wanted to hear!

How many times have we ignored God's counsel and insight before we pursued anything? How many times have we attempted new assignments, journeys, careers and relationships without first seeking the Lord's counsel only to be broken and disappointed.

Beloved, devote yourself to prayer (Colossians 4:2) and it is through this that you will have at your disposal all the wisdom and counsel you need to overcome life's challenges and to experience your victory in the Lord.

What A Friend we have in Jesus!

In such a world like ours, where do we turn to in moments of loss, pain and confusion? What needless pain we bear when we do not take everything to God in prayer!

Today, we feature photos taken during our very first book outreach at Kibuli Secondary School in March 2012. At the center of our ministry is the desire to equip youth for active and effective Christian service in their communities.Thank you for your faithful support.#TBS2012

"He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young." Isaiah 40:11_

Child of God, your Father in heaven cares for you. In moments like these, may you be reminded and comforted in the knowledge that the One who cares for the birds of the air and makes streams of water in the desert, is the same God who calls you by name.

He cares and be sure that as you trust in Him and yield to His voice, He is going to lead you on this path of life.

Have a blessed day!

"Trust in, lean on, rely on, and have confidence in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is a refuge for us (a fortress and a high tower). Selah." Psalm 62:8 (AMP)_

My friend, this week purpose to trust in, lean on, rely on, and have confidence in God because with Him all things are possible.

Make no mistake to rely on your own wisdom or strength because they are limited to what you know and what you have! Trust the unchanging God in times like these when people, systems and even the economy we so much rely on, are all drastically changing!

Have a blessed week!
