SUMMARY OF ARCHBISHOP’S SPEECH DURING THE REQUIEM MASS OF FR. JOSEPH LUMANYIKA
Whenever we burry, we remember the following;
Our God is real so we have to behave accordingly.
Promote peace and harmony: “Blessed are the peacemakers: they shall be recognized as children of God.” Matthew 5.9
Our new theme for the archdiocese “Fratelli Tutti: LET US DEEPEN OUR FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE(1 COR.13:13) BY BEING GOOD WITNESS TO CHRIST (ACTS 1:8)
HOW DO WE DEEPEN OUR FAITH?
Engaging ourselves in prayer: (morning prayers, evening prayers, recitation of the Holy Rosary among many other ways) especially in our families teaching these prayers and all moral ways of good living to our children.
Reading the bible with reflections besides the catechism of the catholic faith.
Regular attendance of mass with receiving of the holy sacraments.
Reading of written documents sent from the Vatican, Archdiocese, and other trusted sources.
HAVING FAITH IN LIFE ETERNAL- (EVERLASTING LIFE)
Through our daily encounters, we go through many ups and downs but we should always have hope since our redeemer is living.
Truly, truly I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. . . . an hour is coming, and is now here when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. John 5:24-25
LOVE- LET US MASTER THE 10 COMMANDMENTS (EXOD 20:1-7) WHICH OUR LORD SUMMARISED IN ONLY 2
Matthew 22:36-40 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
MESSAGE TO THE FAITHFUL-LIFE IS PRECIOUS THUS NEED TO KEEP SAFE
Sadly, many sicknesses are emerging every day killing lots of people with an example of Fr. Joseph Lumanyiika who died suddenly, lawyer Kityo who passed on after receiving news that his wife had passed away. Therefore, let us always go for regular checkups especially our pressure and sugar levels since such can be treated if seen early enough.
With election campaigns in high gear, I call upon ensuring and maintenance of peace;
Let all of us follow the COVID-19 guidelines without a soft hand for some people.
Marriage partners let peace prevail in your families.
Those campaigning for different posts, please desist from divisions.
The security personals please stop using excessive energy when implementing law and order.
Let us all follow the motto of our Country; “For God and My Country” keeping in mind that whatever I am involved in is it for God and my Country?

LIVE FROM LUBAGA CATHEDRAL
SUBMIT YOUR PRAYER INTENTION BEFORE OUR LORD.
The ARCHBISHOP OF KAMPALA, HIS GRACE DR. CYPRIAN KIZITO LWANGA HAS JOINED OTHER RELIGIOUS LEADERS OF THE INTER-RELIGIOUS COUNCIL TO ISSUE THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT ON THE CURRENT SITUATION OF THE COUNTRY.
"It is is incumbent upon us to express our concern in the current political injustices in the country and to provide guidance especially in such critical period in our country.
We are deeply concerned of the violent events that occurred in our country yesterday where the whole word witnessed brutal arrests of political candidates; Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi and Hon.Amuriat Oboi.
We call upon the electoral commission and the various security organs to adhere to the human rights principals enshrined in the national objectives and practices while being law abiding and following our national constitution.
We noted with concern that the police were in breach of the COVID-19 SOPs and of Article 21(3) that stipulates that the police shall be patriotic, professional, disciplined, competent and productive.
The army has breached Article 209 that states that the army will cooperate with civilian authority in emergency situations and in cases of natural disaster like COVID-19.
While we imagine the dilemma faced by the security agencies, we call for actions that honor the rights and dignity of all Ugandans irrespective of their political affiliations.
We urge all men and women in uniform to uphold the Ugandan constitution and all relevant laws and ought to treat all citizens of Uganda fairly and equally irrespective of their political affiliation.
We call for the immediate release of all people who were arrested yesterday. In the event that they committed crimes, they should be presented to the courts of law as the law stipulates.
Article 61 of the constitution mandates the electoral commission to ensure free and fair elections. As religious leaders, we expect the EC to take charge of the electoral process including the security arrangements of all political candidates and ensure an enabling environment
We have noted with concern increasing cases of violence across the country that threaten to undermine the integrity and fairness of our elections. We have witnessed candidates being blocked from accessing campaigns venue, media houses among others"

I can barely lift my eyes to you. It's all I can do to cry out for help. Please extend your grace to me this day. Help me to see that you are in this and that you are with me. Help me to remember that you are not surprised or taken off guard by the events of this day. Forgive me for my fears about this day.
Forgive me for how I have complained and muttered about how hard this day has been. Forgive me for forgetting that you are with me. Forgive me for forgetting who I am because of what your Son, Jesus Christ, has done. Forgive me for failing to remember the glorious truths and riches I have because of the gospel. Father, hear my prayer. Grant me gospel hope in the midst of this hard day. Help me to cling to your grace, your wisdom, and your strength.

PRAYER FOR OUR NATION
Father God, we come to you because the people of this nation and everything in it belong to you. We are not here by accident. You are the one who set us in this nation at this particular time for the glory of your name. But Father, people in this country are turning against each other. We no longer live like brothers and sisters. Brother has turned against brother and child against parent. But your word says that if we humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways you will heal our land. Lord, heal our hearts, heal our land. Remove bitterness and resentment from our hearts and help us to live as brothers and sisters. In Jesus’ name,
