VISIT BY THE PENTACOSTAL CHURCH OF TANZANIA DELEGATION 6/10/12

On Saturday 6/10/12 a 12 member Bible student delegation visited Shia Ithna ashery Masjid of Mwanza on a study tour.

This delegation came all the way from Nzega district in Tabora region to Shia Ithna ashery Mosque in Mwanza. They came around 1:30 pm and were received very well at our Jamaat office.

After introduction on both sides our Jamaats Chairman Álhajj Sibtain Meghjee gave a brief history of Shia ithna ashery activities in Mwanza, East Africa, Africa and at a world level.

He explained that Muslims as whole, including Shias, are peace full people and a lot of humanitarian work is going on in order to assist the less fortunate people of this world.

In Mwanza only, he explained, the welfare work carried out within and outside the community is without any discrimination of religion, colour, creed, tribe, gender, political affiliation, etc. It is very unfortunate the negative propaganda that is being carried out by media and the western world against Muslims and especially Shias

Plenty of questions were asked which were answered very well by Sheikh Hashim Ramadhan of Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania Mwanza branch. Many questions were asked including: "How do Muslim believe in Jesus Christ (NABI ISSA A.S)?" and "Why don't Muslims believe in TRINITY?" This was explained very well by Sheikh Hashim Ramadhan giving references from Holy Quran.

Another very common question asked was, "Why do Muslims suppress their women by not allowing them participate in all worldly activities freely and cover them (HIJAB)?" In answer, a counter question was asked as to how would they feel if their daughters, sisters or their mothers was paraded in front of males, half naked like done in MISS COMPETITIONS or how would they feel if their half naked photos are displayed everywhere for promoting goods like soft drinks or women who are made to dance in casinos, hotels, music halls, and also during promotion of goods by business people? Everyone agreed that none of them would like to see their ladies indulging in these activities, hence Islam is right by preventing these activities. Surprisingly all human rights organizations are quite on this type of humiliation the women are facing.

Additionally, and very clearly, they were told that Islam does not prevent their ladies from acquiring education or prohibit women form working in halal manner.

Later, the delegation was taken around ghusal khana, Masjid, and Imambargha where they were explained of activities performed in these buildings.

At the end of the visit the leader of the delegation was gifted 12 KISWAHILI TRANSLATIONS OF THE HOLY QURAN written by Sheikh Hassan Mwalupa, printed and distributed by Al Itra Foundation of Dar es Salaam. Also 12 Kiswahili Islamic calenders were gifted to the delegation.

The head of the delegation thanked on everyones behalf and admitted that they learned many things during their visit and agreed that muslims, especially Shias, are not terrorists or bad people.

These students will complete their bible studies in December 2012 and our records show that a similar visit was done from the same college on 28/10/2009 by different group of students.
