Since people can join athletic teams and businesses and follow rules, since people can be so fearful of being cast out of their society that they forfeit their souls, since people can be so devoted to things that don't matter, shouldn't Christians make an even greater commitment to what matters most? As Christians, God expects us to live a certain way.

So, LET'S COMMIT OURSELVES TO OBEY GOD AS WE LEARN WHAT HE REQUIRES OF US.

As Christian, in what areas in your life is your commitment to Him lacking? Ask God to show you and for help in strengthening those areas.

Story: Jesus Visits Martha and Mary (Luke 10:38-42)

“If we would be strong for service in the strength that prevents distraction and unrest, we must know what it is to find time amid all the duties of life to sit at His feet as disciples.” (Morgan)

“The way to get the revival is to begin at the Master’s feet; you must go there with Mary and afterwards you may work with Martha.” (Spurgeon)

Many have become Christians but few are devoted disciples of Jesus. Why is that so?

True discipleship begins when a person understands what it really means to be a disciple of Jesus and then be willing to live to that marks of a disciple.

WHAT IS A DISCIPLE?

1. A disciple is one who has answered Christ's call
-Discipleship begins with God calling us and drawing us to Jesus. It is Him who initiated it first and foremost. Jesus said "Come to Me" and then we respond to that call by making Jesus as our Personal Lord and Savior.

2. A disciple is someone who has accepted God's condition.
-There is a cost to pay or demands of discipleship that God has laid down. One must be willing to accept that conditions if one wants to be His disciple and be willing to surrender to God's control & obey Him in EVERYTHING.

3. A disciple is someone who is willing to learn.
-A disciple is a learner, one with an an open-mind and teachable spirit for that person to continue to grow in the Lord.

4. A disciple is someone who is becoming like His Master
-The goal of discipleship is CHRIST- LIKENESS. One must be growing in the person of Jesus Christ day by day.

5. A disciple is someone who has experienced power.
- accepting God's condition is not burdensome because we do not rely on our own human strength but on the power of the Holy spirit. When we surrender and give that complete control to God, serving Him becomes a joy and delight. His yoke is easy when we rely completely on His power.

Based on these 5 marks of disciple, how are you as God's disciple? Honest evaluation, which of these marks do you need to work or improve on in your spiritual life?

In the Great Commission, the main command Jesus gave His disciples was not just to win converts but to "go and make disciples". This was His call for them and it is also His call for every disciple. Understanding the four calls of Jesus, helps a disciple see clearly the whole pattern and plan of this disciple-making process that Jesus is calling him or her to be a part of it.

2 Timothy 2:2, "and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also."

God not only calls people to come to Him for salvation, but He calls them to move onwards and upwards towards the goal for which He has saved them - to go and make disciples.

We need to understand God's overall plan for the world, for His church and for each individual Christian before we begin to look at the details of how to go and make disciples.

What does God have for the follower of Christ?
Jesus promised power to His disciples as they bear witness of the gospel. Considering the challenges that go with it, disciples need to experience the power of God as they go and make disciples of all nations.

As His disciple, God knows you are limited so He never wants you to rely on yourself. It is not your power but His. GOD WILL DO THE IMPOSSIBLE AS YOU DO WHAT IS POSSIBLE. As you share the gospel, depend on His power and believe that He can do more than you what you think of ever imagined. Always rely on the Holy Spirit for power.

What is this power all about?

Many believers do not realize the potentials they have in Christ. A lot have limited what God can do through them and fail to move in the power of God. As a believer, you are powerful. You are empowered by God through His Spirit to forcefully advance God's kingdom. You must never forget who you are and what you are capable of in Christ. And God desires that your life will create a positive influence in others helping others know God more personally.

Anticipating the Lord’s Return
#LifePrinciplesToLiveBy
#DrCharlesStanley

Throughout Scripture, we find three admonitions given to us about the Lord’s return:

1. We’re to watch faithfully. The Word of God encourages us to stand fast in the faith with courage and strength (1 Cor. 16:13), watching soberly and arming ourselves with faith, love, and salvation (1 Thess. 5:8). As we watch, we’re to remain especially aware of false prophets, discerning the spirits and rejecting all who do not confess that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh (2 Peter 2:1; 1 John 4:1-2).

Jesus spoke to John in a vision and gave this great promise to those who remain watchful: “Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake” (Rev. 16:15).

2. We’re to work diligently. Why does Jesus leave us here on earth after He saves us? Why aren’t we born again, then immediately taken into the Lord’s presence? Simply because we still have work to do!

We’re to be the Lord’s witnesses, telling of the love of God and the atoning death of Jesus Christ. We’re also to testify to others about all He’s done in our own lives, both with our words and by our example. As long as there remains a soul on earth who hasn’t heard the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, we still have much to do.

3. We’re to wait peacefully. More than four hundred times in Scripture, the Lord commands us to not fear but to enjoy peace—and He calls us to peace as we await His return. We’re taught in the Bible that apart from Jesus, there is no peace … not within a human heart and not among human beings or nations. With Jesus, we can experience peace that surpasses our rational capacity and settles deep within (Phil. 4:7). We are to seek and find this peace as we await the Lord’s return.

When the Lord comes, will He find you among those who love Him and call Him Savior and Lord? Will He find you doing what He’s commanded of you, eager to see Him and ready for His appearing? You have it within your grasp to positively answer these questions. So how will you choose to respond to the Lord’s call upon your life?

The fact is, He is coming again!

The Valley Experiences in Our Lives
#LifePrinciplestoLiveBy
#DrCharlesStanley

Adversity, anguish, trials, tribulations, and heartaches operate as lessons in the school of experience. They bring us to a place of new insight and understanding. They can alter our perceptions of the world, our views of God, and lead us to change our behaviors. The Lord, of course, is the ultimate Teacher. He’s the One to whom we must look for the meaning of any lesson related to adversity.
God allows adversity for at least three reasons:
1. To Get Our Attention
The Lord uses a wide variety of methods to gain our attention when necessary—and adversity is one of them. Don’t delay in responding to the Lord when He moves to get your attention. Respond quickly and humbly. Hear what He has to say to you.
2. For Examination
At times, God allows adversity to motivate us to self-examination. The winds of adversity blow away the surface issues and force us to cope with things on a deeper level. Nothing has the ability to drive us closer to God than tribulation. It removes the cloak of denial and reveals who we really are, as well as what we believe about God, His deity, and faithfulness.
Paul encouraged the Corinthians, “A man must examine himself” (1 Cor. 11:28). In other words, “Take a straight forward look inside and discover what’s driving, motivating, and enticing you.” If it’s anything but God, then it’s not right. He needs to be your motivating factor at every turn in life.
3. To Change Behavior
It isn’t enough that God desires to get our attention or encourage us to take a truthful look at our lives. We must also allow His Spirit to have free access to every area. Unless we change our response and behavior, we’ll never benefit from adversity or grow as a result of it. God provides a challenge, and we have an opportunity to obey or disobey Him. The choice is ours, and the consequences that come belong to us as well.
If you’re willing to allow God to surface the inner rubbish of your life—and if you’re willing to change what needs to be changed—you’ll emerge from adversity closer to Christ, more mature as His child, and with far greater potential to reflect the love of God to the world around you.

Ladies, in a society in which the focus is more on outward appearance, relative to inward appearance, let us remember: the Bible tells us that we need to take a different approach to appearance than fitting into society’s idea of beauty. We need to keep appearance in perspective. Though is that it is important to present ourselves as nicely as possible, but God does not call us to go to extremes.

1 Peter 3:3-4
"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight".

"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel." (Isaiah 7:14)

We wish everyone a Blessed and Joyous Christmas!!!
May your homes and life be filled with the love and peace of Christ as we commemorate the Birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

God sent His Son, Jesus, into the world to be born.
His story (history) is one of truth, love, and hope. It brought salvation to all of us. Without Jesus, we would all die in our sins.

We can truly be happy at Christmas no matter what may be happening for Jesus Is the Reason for the Season! Rejoice!

Together in the Christian Life
#LifePrinciplestoliveby
#drcharlesstanley

In Hebrews 10:25, the author makes it clear that believers should not stop meeting together. God wants us to regularly meet with other believers—He wants His people in church! There are those, however, who don’t take this admonition seriously. I’ve often heard this refrain: “I can worship God at home. I don’t need to go to church.” Many believe the sole reason we meet together is to worship—and understandably so. After all, we call it a worship service.

If worship were the only reason we’re commanded to meet, then those who claim they can worship at home would have a strong argument. But worship isn't the sole reason. Nor is it so we can be taught God’s truth. We can turn on our radios, televisions, and visit websites to hear sound biblical teaching. On the surface, it seems that anything we can do at church we can do just as well at home.

So why are we commanded to meet? Why go to church?

The writer of Hebrews says it’s to safeguard against drifting. We’re the body of Christ, and when we’re with other believers, we’re doing what comes naturally and what we’ll do for eternity—being together in His presence. We make up the church, and together we provide strength for one another through prayer, fellowship, and encouragement.

Enemy forces are always at work around us, seeking to blow us off course. Sheer individual commitment is not enough to keep us in line. We need the presence and accountability of other believers—and they need us. When we surrender our lives to Christ, He uses us in countless ways we may never know.

The accountability and encouragement found in church anchor us against the tides that work to sweep us away. To neglect the regular assembly of fellow Christians is to miss out on this essential element in the development of our faith.

Regular church attendance should never be viewed as something you do to gain God’s merit. Instead, it should provide the catalyst for spiritual growth. Ask God to lead you to a church that teaches the Word of God without compromising His truth and demonstrates His love, grace, and forgiveness to all. When He does, you will find He's led you to a church you can truly call home.

Prayer: Our Time Saver
#lifeprinciplestoliveby
#drcharlesstanley drcharlesstanley

Change is never easy, especially when our choices affect other people. Change means important decisions will be made—which introduces the possibility of terrible mistakes and ongoing consequences. When we make those choices without seeking the Lord’s leadership, we are headed for disaster. But when we pray to God, requesting His guidance and committing ourselves to His will, He moves in astounding ways to help us.
Prayer is always life’s greatest time saver. The Lord knows exactly what you need, and He will always answer your prayers as is absolutely best for you. Therefore, spend time listening to Him, receiving His wisdom and direction, and drinking in His presence and power. Be quiet before Him, rest in Him, and allow Him to order your steps. He will keep you from moving in the wrong direction or from wasting your time doing useless things.
Are you willing to stop and listen to Him? Are you ready for Him to make you the most fruitful you can possibly be? Then no matter what you face, commit yourself to His schedule, wisdom, provision, and guidance through prayer. You will find that your time with Him is the best investment you will ever make.
