GOD SEES. GOD KNOWS.

“Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please”
Isaiah 46:9-10

We fear the unknown. To be placed in a territory where we have not been is a strange and frightful feeling. We want to know what happens next and see the ending of the story. Nobody likes to be left hanging. But isn’t this what is happening to the world today? Even kings, rulers, presidents, and government officials are anxiously working overtime as they battle an enemy they cannot see, with no cure available.

But God sees and God knows. He is the all-knowing God Who “determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name” (Psalm 147:4) and knows “the number of your hairs on your head (Luke 12:7)”. If this God Who knows the infinite number of the universe down to the minutest detail of your hair, don’t you think He knows the end of this pandemic? Wherever you are across the globe, quarantined in the four walls of your home, God sees and God knows.

Are you grieving and in pain? He knows. Are you in need and in lack? He knows. Are you persistently praying in the privacy of your room? He knows. Are you faithfully serving Him in the background? He knows. Are you silently winning souls for Christ? He knows. Whatever it is you are going through right now, God sees and God knows because He is the Omniscient God. Nothing is hidden in His sight. In this season of uncertainty, trust His mind. In your waiting, trust His heart. In your seeking, trust His wisdom. In this pandemic, trust His Hand. He is God and there is no other.

Questions to ponder on:
1. What have you learned about the all-knowing God?
2. How should your response be knowing that He is the Omniscient God?

Prayer:
God, thank You for reminding me Who You are. As I daily face struggles in life, may I see You for Who You are—that You are greater and supreme over all things. Change my heart to respond in a way that brings pleasure to Your sight.

NEVER NOT EVERYWHERE

“Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, You are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.” - Psalm 139:7-10

Simultaneously, God can be here and there! This means He is present everywhere - there is not a space that He does not occupy. In fact all spaces combined are not enough to contain God. The heaven and earth cannot contain in Him (2 Chronicles 2:6). The whole universe cannot enclose God.

God’s omnipresence gives us an assurance that there is nothing to fear because He is with us and if He is with us, we are safely kept. What are you most afraid of in this pandemic – financial bankruptcy? sickness? loss of a loved one? your own death? Fear no more for God is here and He sees every single thing that happens in your life, always working powerfully on your behalf for your good according to His grander purpose. He is never passive, always actively involved.

God’s omnipresence is a wonderful truth we can hold on to especially when anxiety attacks are seemingly more real than His presence. Never give in to your doubts and stop wondering where God is. He is never not everywhere! He is never distant, always near. Let us acknowledge His wonderful presence moment by moment, yearn for it and be greatly blessed!

Reflection questions:
1. Why do you think some of us feel that God is distant at times?
2. How is God’s omnipresence impacting your life?

Prayer:
We thank You, O God that You are never bound by space or time. You are a God who is with us every single day and night. Your presence means that apart from Your consent, no harm will befall us. We worship You our God who is with us, close to us, and who has never left our side, Amen!

MEANT TO LIVE FOREVER!

…“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live even if he dies, and the one who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” - John 11:25-26

Without Christ’s resurrection, our faith is futile. If Jesus didn’t rise again, we, the followers of Christ are disdainfully hopeless and pitiful. But Jesus has rendered the grave empty! Sin and death have been defeated and life is sure to last forever. Christ’s resurrection means everything to us believers. What boast! What victory! What reason not to fear death!

COVID-19 or other forms of diseases that may cause physical death is not a threat at all because to those who believe in Christ, death is but a portal to a life that never ends. An everlasting life is a guaranteed assurance for every believer because Christ Himself died but not for long, rose again! And because Christ was raised, we too shall be raised with Jesus and be brought to His presence (2 Corinthians 4:14). What confidence! What hope! What reason to believe in Christ!

“The one who believes in me will live even if he dies.” Wow! Believers of Christ are meant to live forever! Not in this world however because this world is not our permanent home, heaven is. With or without COVID-19, this mortal body has to decay sooner or later to give way to the imperishable body (1 Corinthians 15:53). What destiny! What bliss! What reason to live in and for Christ, to die in Christ, and to live again with Christ throughout eternity!

Do you want to live forever? Believe in Christ.

Reflection questions:
1. Why should believers in Christ not be afraid of dying?
2. What does Christ’s resurrection mean to you?

Prayer:
Lord, as you have blown the doors off of a tomb, we too shall overcome the grave in the day of our resurrection with Jesus Christ. Help us to live this life with an eternal perspective – looking forward to our permanent home, heaven. In the most wonderful name of Jesus we pray. Amen!

WITH FAITH LIKE A CHILD

“But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying out in the temple, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David!’ they were indignant, and they said to him, ‘Do you hear what these are saying?’ And Jesus said to them, ‘Yes; have you never read, “Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise”?” –Matthew 21:15-17

Children are wonderful little beings. They are curious creatures that like to touch and to grasp things that are near them, and they never seem to run out of questions about everything in the universe. This is due to the fact that, well, they are still young and new to the world, and they don’t really know much. So it isn’t a wonder when the chief priests and scribes were seemingly annoyed by the children in the temple who praised Jesus for Who He was.

But we can learn more from these children (who hadn’t graduated from college and were “irrelevant” to religious disputes) rather than from the chief priests and scribes (who were filled with lofty Biblical knowledge and were known religious leaders). The children saw Jesus for Who He was, something that those educated leaders couldn’t! The children were in awe and in wonder, filled with astonishment by Jesus’ healing upon the blind and the lame.

What we can grasp from this passage is that even the children knew Jesus was the Messiah, and they weren’t mature adults, but simply children! May we have a faith which is similar to theirs – one that doesn’t doubt God, but simply trusts and leans on His sovereignty. He is the God of miracles, the God Who conquered death, purchased our hellbound souls, redeeming us to His own! And in Him alone do we and can we trust.

Questions to ponder on:
1. Do you trust Your heavenly Father?
2. Is there childlike faith in your heart?

Prayer:
O God, help us to see Your hands moving in our midst. We humbly ask for childlike faith and for a heart that wavers not during these times of testing and of trial. Give us a hunger for Your Word, a thirst for Your presence, and a passion for serving You and others. In Jesus’ Name we pray this. Amen.

WHERE ARE YOU LOOKING?

“looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” -Hebrews 12:2

Panic and chaos is a restless force that impels society to jump in the bandwagon. Uncertainty has never felt so real these past days because of the ongoing pandemic that has affected the whole world. Before this grave scenario, we lived our lives looking forward to building a secure future. Financial stability, healthy lifestyle, booming business, promising career, social status—these are the pillars that held our life and future together or so we thought. Then all of a sudden, sickness, death, financial crisis, loss of a loved one are standing right at our doorstep. This is our reality.

In a world of overwhelming despair and restlessness, where are you looking? Look to the One who is seated at the right hand of God. He is not like us, helplessly scrambling around in panic. He is seated, at ease, rested, and in control of all things. There is nothing that catches Him by surprise. Look to Him who “is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” (Colossians 1:17) There is no pandemic greater than our Lord. Everything bows at the footstool of Jesus.

Questions to ponder on:
1. Where are you looking? Are you looking at the world and the number of cases that continue to rise up?
2. How have you responded in this present crisis?

Prayer:
Lord, help me to pause and pray before I worry and fear. I lay everything at Your footstool and entrust my life and my future to You. You are above and in control of all things. May I be overwhelmed by Your love than my fears. In Jesus Name, Amen.

A School Made for Christ Alone

Living Word Christian Learning Center is a church-based school of Living Word Christian Churches of Cebu, Int'l Inc. It was founded in 1998, which started as a school that uses the Traditional Curriculum or Basic Education Curriculum way back then. At present, the school is using the School of Tomorrow System’s Accelerated Christian Education or ACE (A modular type of curriculum). ACE is a curriculum founded on Christ and the teachings of the Bible. The system uses the Bible, not only as a guide (like for some), but as a main text book. Moreover, the system is also built as an Individualized System of Education or Individualized Program which aims students to be independent, responsible, and God-fearing learners. Students would answer in their PACEs (modules) rather than books, which are lighter to carry in weight and made to be comprehensive to students. For more information on what we offer to your child’s unique bright future, other than basic knowledge development, kindly visit our website: https://sites.google.com/view/lwclc2020
