"Daghan problema karon - dili malikayan, dili matabunan, dili ma-deny. Apan if your perspective is that of grace attitude, when we look back at the past nga gigasahan kita sa mahal na Dios, then despite the difficulty, we can find home, the glimmer of hope, to move forward in the future."

- Cebu Auxiliary Bishop Midyphil "Dodong" Billones on his homily during the 437th Fiesta Celebration in honor of San Nicolas de Tolentino at the Archdiocesan Shrine of San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish, Cebu City. (10 September 2021)

🎊#HappyFoundationAnniversary🎊
We are celebrating today the 47th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Living the Gospel Community (LGC) ✨πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰

The Living the Gospel Community was founded by Fr. Frederick B. Kriekenbeek. Fr. Kriekenbeek was born on April 12, 1932 in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, Philippines and was also raised there. Frederick, as a growing boy, was led abroad, there to be drawn gradually to God and to His service. Availing of a scholarship awarded him by Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he went for studies in the United States. His stay there served somehow as a novitiate where the Holy Spirit and the Blessed Mother Mary developed in him an intense love for the Blessed Sacrament, his initiation to deep prayer and eventual surrender to God. He entered Harvard University in 1950 and while there, consecrated his life to God, prepared as he was by a deep devotion to Mary. Planning a career in International Law, he entered Harvard Law School three years later, only to find that God has other plans. During the Marian year, 1954 on the Feast of the Nativity of Mary, September 8, God made His definitive call, and in response, the young Frederick abandoned everything, laying aside the opposition of family and friends. After a year at the school of St. Philip Neri for Delayed Vocations for Latin and Greek, he entered St. John Seminary in Massachusetts and was ordained there on February 2, 1961. Thirteen years later, on September 8, 1974, Fr. Frederick B. Kriekenbeek founded the LIVING THE GOSPEL COMMUNITY.

Your AMRSP Family is one with you on this very special day of your congregation. Many more God-filled years to come! πŸ˜‡πŸ™

"When your E-mail is hacked and someone steals your E-mail address and eventually worse, if your license number or your bank account number will be stolen, we call them technically "Identity Theft". And it's so pervasive nowadays and creating a matter of damage. And by the way, even for bishops. I'm one of those nga in my first year, I had to inform the CBCP that someone was listing under my name using my E-mail for the sake of one souvenir inquiries.

But here's the thing, you, our millenials, you are familiar with the concept of identity theft. Now listen to this, even Convey on his book, he said, identity theft happens to us when we lose the essence of who we are because of the conditioning of society, culture, or the biases and prejudice of a particular group. I don't want to sound too technical. Ang punto is usahay, the worst form of identity theft is when we forget who we are.

Siguro, for those can who can understand this better are those who are Harry Potter fans.... There's an enemy there and the one of the nemeses of Harry Potter is called "Dementors" because they will suck the life of you and worse your memory and then you're left swiveled up and no life only because you don't know who you are anymore.

Brothers and sisters, this can happen to us. We are gifted with identity as Christians during baptism and as we grow older, we can be bombarded with the conditioning of culture and even people around us and it becomes a bias and prejudice and then one day we just feel we don't know anymore who we are, thus, identity theft.

The solution to identity theft is to arrive at the defining moment of maturation and we call that, that you need to confirm your identity of who you truly are.

Di'ba, sa mga chika, balita, ug mga intriga, ug chismis, kung silang duha linked to one another, ang ending pirmi may question: "confirmed?" o "confiiirmed?". Of course kung "confirmed", tinuod na siya pero if "confiiirmed" medyo spicy, haka-haka rana.

What a wonderful timing, privilege, during the celebration of the 500 years of Christianity. Why? Such tremendous beautiful timing, but what makes it more beautiful is now, you are making here "confirmed" that you are truly a Christian and that you are going to volunteer to serve the Lord and to tell His story through your skills and giftedness. By doing so, by becoming volunteers, from internship to volunteership and I hope discipleship for a lifetime, then you are confirming "I have been baptized and I am confirming my identity now as truly belonging to Christ. I was claimed in the name of Jesus. Now, I'm going to give all- my talents, my skills, my heart, and passion for the Lord. You will be blessed because of that.

The mission therefore, of those already in the social commission including the priests and you our dear young ones who will become volunteers, confirming your identity in the faith, you are confirming your mission as well.

When you confirm your identity, you will know your destiny. When you know your true meaning, then you will know how you will become the best version of you and find purpose in life. If you like another language there: you will live a purpose of your life by becoming "confirmed" in your identity as Christians.

Just such specific notes for our volunteers, we need to have storytellers, to tell the story of God's love...Tell the story that of God's love in three characteristics, tell the story of our faith, tell the story that is good, true, and beautiful.

1. GOOD- Most often, we may not be aware of this but those who are working behind the scenes, you're not given the spotlight but you facilitate the spot for others. But if you focus the lens for others can see first, you become the good news and sometimes even the only good news that people encounter.

So the always good question is this: When you speak, when you write later on, when you communicate in your segment assignment, do you bring out the good news or better, are you the good news or the bad news?

We have so much bad news already. We need men and women who can tell the good news and the good news is ikaw and relationship with Christ.

2. TRUE- You know until now, I'm still discorded with the concept of "fake news". I found it an oxymoron. Because for me, news should be factual. When you call it fake news, it's like they contradict each other. It should be fake, it should be lies. News should be true news. But then, just the concept existing during our time for means of disturbing and it's in your time. And they even have the concept of "Deep fake news". So for example, they can use my case and I'd be saying something which I did not say but the mouth is moving as if I'm saying that. And even the concept of "troll farms", even used not meant to tell the truth but rather to influence. Don't get me wrong. We need to influence others for good. But to sway an influence for a particular agenda alone which is based on a very narrow-minded viewpoint, for me it's scary, it disturbs me.

Do not lose your integrity whether you are working now temporarily for the church and later on for some other groups, please, tell the story of God that is true.

3. BEAUTIFUL- According to Fr. Arevalo, out of ten converts, three will enter through the door of faith and seven will enter through the door of beauty. I'm not saying that you will use more skin toners to be beautiful, rather, let what you work upon be a beautiful narrative of your relationship with God.

When you do that, what you're communicating is good, true, and beautiful. When you do that then you confirm your idenity as really followers of God.

During confirmation, it's a deepening, it's an intensification. It's called being confirmed by the grace of God. That is why the gestures of the laying down spirit is an invocation of the Holy Spirit to set you on fire, to confirm you in your identity and destiny, to confirm you in your being and becoming.

The slapping is not meant to hurt, rather to wake you up to your identity and mission.
I hope your true beauty lies in your relationship with the Lord.

What's really makes a lady beautiful if you ask me, is the faith. The men could not tell you that, but they would really come to you if you have that relation to the Lord.

I hope and pray that for all of us, we will be inspired as well to he confirmed in our identity, dili lang chika nga "confiirmed" but "confirmed" by the Holy Spirit in our mission kay after all we are the beloved in the Gospel.

In the baptism of the Lord, Jesus received His identity and destiny- Beloved Son of God. You and I are beloved sons and daughters of God. Let us be confirmed in our identity that even in this pandemic, where everything's shaky and difficult, we can be counted that we are beloved and as beloved we can overcome, survive, and even aspire for a bright future.

And that's a future where there is healing, where there is true love, and happiness and with that, we receive that through the gift of the Holy Spirit."

OUT OF HER MIND"
(Inspired by the Gospel of MATTHEW 13:44-46)
"Out of her mind!!!"
That was the phrase I received
When I finally decided
To journey the road less travelled.
One, two, three... they were many
Threwing stones on me
Including myself, for I felt so unworthy
Thanks be to God, He rescues immediately.
With all my sins and failings, I shall arise
For I have found the treasure with great price.
Nothing can ever equal the Kingdom of Heaven
The only treasure will I choose until the end.
