Charity Work || The Sacred Heart Parish with the Men and Ladies' Association of the same parish on a real mission||Gifted to Give

This particular visit is just one of the many acts of extending help to various groups and parishes in the Archdiocese of Cebu. To God be the Glory and thanks to the Sacred Heart Parish with the guidance and leadership of Fr. Roberto Archie Carampatan, the parish priest and the very active involvement of the members of the Men and Ladies' Association, for inspiring many to do the same act of charity. This is the spirit of 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines at the parish level.

Day of Consecration to St. Joseph|| Last May 1, while the local church celebrated Consecration to St. Joseph, the Parish of St.Joseph in Mabolo Cebu City, designed a Charity program in partnership with a batch of Highschool Graduates of the year 1984 from the St. Theresa's College- Cebu.

The story of the Feeding of the multitude is found in the Four Gospels. In the said scriptural account, Jesus told his disciples to feed the people around. The disciples were tentative, hesitant, and doubtful because they only had few loaves of bread and little supply of fish. The disciples were indeed good at budgeting and planning or better still they were good managers for they know well the pros and cons of situations. But we know well also how the story went, and we know well Jesus had it his way. Many times we delay charity, we postpone helping and even cancel out programs because they don't fit our standards. Sometimes we act as if Charity can be done with only the direction we set and standard we create.

When the disciples suggested telling the people to go home or for them to buy their food, Jesus said: " Feed them yourselves". Jesus is that crazy, he doesn't give us time to plan, no time to solicit funds, no time even for budget proposals. Anyway, the miracle did happen because eventually the little supply of bread and fish was offered to Jesus. Only God can make it happen; always there are only very few things we could contribute if there is any at all when in reality everything is His.

Many known writers agree to this: "Every day, more and more people want to change the world; but every day less and less people want to change themselves." (Leo Tolstoy, Mark Twain, etc..)

CHARITY is God's doing. “We are the Gifted, but only God can truly Give”. Charity programs do not work with arrogant and conceited individuals, and who act like little gods. At times our pride gets the good side of ourselves, and we end up putting forward our personal agenda to further our selfish interests under the guise of giving. Many times, we are using the name of the poor in vain. May God, have mercy on us.

Our programs for charity will always last only for a day or two, only God makes something that lasts forever. We are subject to time, only God is Eternity Himself.

The hours spent for distribution of goods was not enough and supplies easily run out; certainly there was not enough for everyone. But Charity programs are not counted successful only after evaluating the externals. Anyway, only God completes where we fall short. Charity can never be any program we design, only God makes it truly happen. Arrogance and self-righteousness are the yeast of the Pharisees, as Jesus says in the Gospels.

Regardless of the efforts , we always fall short of time, resources, supply and even sincerity of giving. May God forgive us of our shortcomings and may He grant our best dreams like that of St. Joseph.

At San Carlos Seminary College in Mabolo there is designed a St. Joseph's table - an "alay kapwa" kindness station with the support of church beat journalists.

The one morning program is all about distribution of goods. It appears sad initially when the lack of more supply presents; but the whole event is without doubt counted still as a great success. Anyway, only God completes where we fall short. Charity can never be any program we design, only God makes it truly happen. Arrogance and self-righteousness are basic components of the yeast of the pharisees, as Jesus says: "Beware..."

Our programs for charity will always last only for a day or two, only God makes something that lasts forever. We are subject to time, only God is eternity himself.

We, members of the Social Media team can only do as much. May St. Joseph intercede for us to make us truly Give even as we count our many Gifts.

Our sincerest gratitude goes to individuals and groups who support us in our programs; and for this particular act of giving this afternoon on this day of Consecration to St. Joseph, we thank the men and women behind San Miguel Foods.
