Christian Fellowship For Disabled – Wellington Branch are holding their Annual Regional Camp at El Rancho, Waikanae over the weekend of 8th-10th March 2019. This is a predominantly adult camp, but families are welcome. HOW YOU CAN HELP – Firstly by praying that we recruit enough helpers and support people for our disabled campers; for the weather so all planned activities can go ahead; for an incident-free camp. By sponsoring a disabled person to attend ($80 + $30 transport if required). By sponsoring a helper or support person to attend (from $40 to $80). By attending yourself as a helper or support person. By bringing a disabled person along who you can support. For further info please phone John/Lyn on (04) 569-9096 or 0274343643 or email [email protected]
Can I also add... we are still really struggling to fill the room at the Glengarry Flat. Can I ask you to pray about this? And if you know any likely candidates, to tap some shoulders. Thanking you.
RIP Brian. Thank you for your example of faith. Rest in peace; rise in glory.
Our preacher this weekend will be the effervescent Guy Benton,NZCMS Mission Enabler and general raconteur. Come along to get inspired about God's mission in the world! And stick around for further missions korero afterwards
Kia ora koutou! If anyone knows of someone looking for a flat (from nowish) please let me know - my flatmate is moving to Christchurch so we're looking for a cool new person. Cheers, Emily

Helped by this question from today (and by the accent, Glaswegian I believe, though I'm open to correction...):

"How do I react to the little chaoses that come into my life? Do I panic like the disciples? Put up my defences? Resign myself to the inevitable? Or do I put all my trust in the Lord?"

[06/05/20]   People - we're back at church on Sunday. In the hall not the church for earthquake reasons. But together again.

You can still Zoom via

To be honest, we met physically last week, too, but blah facebook Zuckerberg blah blah

[05/15/20]   Hi folks.

Zoom church continues this Sunday. A very few folks are looking to hold breakout groups in person, but most of us will be on Zoom. Here's the link - see you there!

[05/05/20]   Hi St Michael's... Rev. Dr. Andrew Burgess is doing a series of 3 or 4 Wednesday night bible/talks/studies on the Book of Revelation. Starts tomorrow night, 7pm to 7.45. He's the man, so it'll be awesome. You have to contact him or me (or Ruby) for the Zoom link. Ask away!

Thanks SO MUCH to all who contributed to the care package for the students at Weir - it was a massive 8 boxes/bags of snacks (the photos don't really do volumes justice!) and really well supported by the local community, St Mike's and Blueprint church. You're all awesome! The Deputy Hall manager and students I met today were so extremely grateful. Bless you all xx

[04/24/20]   Hi St Mike's! The Uni Chaplaincy team are instigating a “care package” from the wider Kelburn Community to encourage the remaining 160 young students who are in locked down in Weir House Hall of residence. Many are internationals and 1st year students far away from home and dorm life is not easy! Can you help us to give them a little boost?! We’d welcome any contributions of shop-brought snack/treat food (eg. pkt of chips, popcorn, chocolate, biscuits, lollies, snacky food, muesli bars etc) and/or messages &kids drawings to encourage them through this long time. Contributions can be dropped into the box in the foyer of St Mikes until Tuesday Apr 28, 5pm– which I'll clear regularly till then. Messages can be emailed to me at [email protected]. Thanks so much!

The unexpected joy of going to church online | The Spectator

Simon Winn, formerly of this Diocese, sent this link about the upsides of online worship. Enjoy: During Holy Week and Easter I went to church five times. Or more accurately, I should say that I logged onto Facebook Live on five separate occasions. There I watched with joy and no little sense of amazement as my suburban parish church, by no means at the cutting edge of modern technology, skilled...

And here's the poem by Mark Edgecombe read to us today by Jane:

For Thomas
I see, now: it wasn’t only doubt
but need that made you say what you did

about putting your fingers where the nails
had been. There you were in lockdown,

fearful, your best friends high on tales
of return. You were more careful, since what’s

faith that’s built on rumours of sightings?
Seeing is believing, sure, but holding

is beholding. That was your insight.
Insufficient the phone or laptop or

greeting from a distance. We want
to touch the wounds, share the bread,

hongi, kiss, clasp, embrace, since

Palm sunday stop motion reading COVID-19 edition

[04/04/20]   Unprecedented God
Ancient and unchanging
We cannot be isolated from you.
For the foreseeable future
There will be no shut-down of your extravagant love
You will not lock yourself away from our panicked cries for help
We can be assured that your essential services will keep running
The sun will rise tomorrow
The earth will spin, precisely and miraculously
And the tides will wash in and out
Autumn has not been postponed
Mass gathering of stars will not be cancelled
The trees will continue to reach up towards the light
Loving God, bring love to our rapidly evolving fear
Bring peace amidst our pandemic
Gift us pockets of unforeseen joy today
(-Prayer for Lockdown by Jane Jones)

Retreat in your isolation

A friend (of Mel McKenzie's) Alice Wood from Central Baptist (who is a Spiritual Director) has put together a really wonderful & accessible resource with some activities for taking little chunks of personal retreat during this time. Many of the ideas are fantastic for kids+families. Thanks Alice! So… you are stuck at home, many things are cancelled. [03/19/20]   Hey folks. If you haven't heard the news, the bishops have asked us not to hold services this Sunday. Instead, we will be using Facebook to relay the sermon from the one and only Rev. Dr. Andrew Burgess. And we are encouraging you to meet in houses to watch it together. McKenzies' house is a starter for up to 15 people; Hocklys are also willing, and the Ramsey House flat. Values, Geopolitics & Realpolitik (Prof Robert Ayson)

Last night's Stuff That Matters talk at St Mic's…

Since the Cold War, international relations have been in a state of flux. China's Peaceful Rise, Brexit, Trump, Russia Today and Cambridge Analytica... the list goes on. In this lecture, Professor Robert Ayson, from Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington's Centre for Strategic Studies, analyses the flux, and asks whether there's any place left for values in the confusing new geopolitical world.
