Professor Joe Bessler is currently on a speaking tour around Australia before he comes to us in New Zealand, including a visit to Chartwell on August 1st.

Some comments from Australia:
“He made a big impression amongst the growing Progressive Christianity community in South East Queensland.”
“Joe is a very ‘listenable’ speaker and his topics were very well received.”
“An outstanding feature of all the sessions was the way in which he generated many questions and never wavered in answering the challenging ones. Professor Bessler is an experienced teacher who gains respect by the way he responds to enquiry.”
“Joe’s talks were very well received - scholarly but delivered in an accessible way that was very engaging.”
This Sunday we would love it if everyone could bring a can of food for our Harvest Festival. Thanks!
Another link to Chartwell........ Ex-ministers from Chartwell Co-operating Church, Diane Miller-Keeley and Bruce Keeley have been holding the fort at the Auckland Cathedral in bewteen Deans. They were farewelled this week ahead of Anne's installation yesterday.
They have been a steady, wise and calm presence for the Cathedral in the interim.
How awesome it was to be there to see Anne Mills installed as the new Dean of Holy Trinity Cathedral in Auckland on Thursday night. How wonderful to see the beautiful building and her and her family. Many from Chartwell braved the atrocious road conditions to make the journey and were all warmly welcomed and pleased I am sure that they made the choice to attend. See below for some pics of the event.

The Chartwell Cooperating Church of St Alban's is a venture of three denominations i.e., the Anglicans, the Methodists and the Presbyterians.

[07/17/21]   This Sunday we will be thinking about how we care for ourselves as well as for others, reflecting on Jesus example and his taking his disciples away to a quiet place when he saw how tired they were when they returned from their first send out. Of course heading to the quiet place didn't go to plan but that too is a part of life.

As we get to the end of Pink Shirt Day Aotearoa 2021,
Let us remember the weight and depth of why...

We pray for the bullied
May we find strength to speak up
May we be listened to and heard
We pray for bullies
May we notice how we treat others
May we be strong enough to ask for help
We pray for bystanders
May we stand up for others no matter what
May we reach out in aroha
We pray for our whānau, friends, and ourselves who know exactly what this feeling feels like
May we be the change
