Shore Grace Church

Shore Grace Church

Sadly we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Greenhithe Spring Carnival this Saturday. The event is too close to the Malthouse incident and there are people in isolation here and at Jet Park still waiting for day10 swabs. We cant keep socially distant on bouncy castles, slides and during tug of war etc. Some of us are on the medical front and some are on the GH Emergency Response Group and we cant justify attracting a large crowd here currently. The Fire Station has also cancelled its event and we strongly suggest the trick or treaters tone it right down this year. Greenhithe Community Trust wishes to thank Shore Grace Church and Barfoot and Thompson and Auckland Council and all the wonderful sponsors and we look forward to hosting this event in 2021.
Hi Shore Gracers. This free local event this Saturday might interest you. It's an opportunity for our local talent and a celebration of renovations of the hall. We have Josh and Anna exhibiting. Breathing Space aka Michelle is a major sponsor. There will be great coffee from Mike. Maybe some musos we know...
Hi All!

So so very excited to announce that, in light of the new gathering restrictions of up to 100 people, Shore Grace will be running church as normal from 10am at Greenhithe School Hall THIS Sunday!

It is of utmost importance to us that the safety and wellbeing of our church whānau is ensured during this new season and we will be adhering to government regulations, recommendations and outlines regarding hygiene/contact tracing/social distancing practices to do this.

We are so excited to see you all and fellowship together again. See you then!

Hi SG whānau!! This coming Sunday service we are taking up a special cash offering to help support our families sending young people to WesoYouth Camp in January of 2021. Bring along some extra coinage to help support and encourage our young people as they prep for this transformational event!
See you at 10am!

Beautiful day for a picnic! Thanks to everyone who came along to make a wonderful church service in the great outdoors!
@ Wainoni Park

Hi church whanau!
This Sunday, the 4th of October, Shore Grace is taking advantage of the beautiful weather we've been having recently and holding our Sunday service in Wainoni Park!

This Sunday the 4th of October from 10am.

Find us near the cricket pitch and toilet block - there will be Shore Grace signs that will hopefully help direct you towards where we are gathering. If in doubt - look for the big group of picnickers - that'll be us!

What Should I Bring?
Bring a picnic blanket and/or some camping chairs for your family to sit on during the service. We'll share in lunch/morning tea afterwards, so also make sure to bring some food for your family group to share as we fellowship together.

Looking forward to seeing you then!

Many Blessings,
The SG Team

Next Saturday the 3rd of October is Prayer Walk the Nation! Grab your walking shoes and some pals and spend some time next weekend talking to God and praying for our whānaus, community and country. A sign up sheet and further information will be available THIS SUNDAY at our FIRST SERVICE BACK with new level 2 gathering restrictions!
Can’t wait to see you there! 10am at the Greenhithe Primary School Hall!
The SG Team

Hi church whānau!
We have a new series called ‘Share Your Story’ in which we will be exploring our God stories and how we can use them to share our faith with others.

A note by Pastor Mike on the new series:
‘As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ’ (1 Peter 2:4-5)

As with Jesus, the cornerstone, we also are those living stones, those signposts and story points to the power of God in our lives, churches and communities. We are bundles of living stones forming stone mounds that create memories of God at work in people’s lives. Your life forms one of those stories. You have a God story to be remembered...and to be shared!

"Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story." (Psalm 102:7)

Hi church whānau!
Hope you have been staying well inside your bubbles (and outside them too now!) Due to continued gathering restrictions for the next couple of weeks we’ll be continuing with online Sunday services over Zoom, starting at 10am, from the comfort of your own homes! Check out the SG Community FaceBook group for more information and a link to the services.
As well as Zoom services, LifeGroups have also started back (in a limited capacity) this week - get involved!
Can’t wait to see you all again shortly!
The SG Team 🙏❤️

[08/12/20]   Kia Ora,

Well here we are again!! Level 3! Yesterday I was blessed to have spent some ministry time with Ian and Noelle Haldane at Ian's rest home facility. Pleased I could be there given the necessary 'off limits' restrictions from today! The Lord bless and sustain this beautiful God honouring couple in these difficult and uncertain times of Covid!

During the time of scripture reading, communion and prayers, Isaiah 43 was read, God's promise of rescue to his people:
" ..the Lord who created you says, Do not be afraid - I will save you, I have called on your name, you are mine. When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burned, the hard trials that come, will not harm you....because you are precious to me and because I love you and give you honour. Do not be afraid - I am with you!"

This time of pandemic, especially for the vulnerable, is a time to hang on to such words of comfort from our Lord.

You will be well aware of the requirements for Level 3 by now. Below is the summary from our National Church team on the church response. No in- person gatherings while in level 3. Thankfully we are well set up for our Life Groups to do Zoom meetings now, as in our Men's Connect tonight and Marie's Women's Group. There will be no Collins Youth group meeting at No. 12 on Friday night.

We will let you know about Sunday service once we know if the lockdown continues. If it does continue at Level 3, we will do as we did during lockdown; A recording on our YouTube channel with Zoom In Cuppa. If we go back to Level 2, we can still meet with gathering sizes permitted up to a 100 under usual Level 2 restrictions. We will keep you advised once the situation becomes clearer.

Lets be in prayer as this is a time of disappointment and uncertainty again for people and those that are the future, re health and re livelihoods. let's pray that the Government's strategy of 'go hard, go early' works in containment so we get back to relative normality again. Lets pray for wisdom for them as they steer us through again.

God bless and feel free to contact myself or Reuben to have a chat, to pray, to process or to make a suggestion.

Praying for you at this time! Mike

[05/08/20]   Hi Church whanau!

Interesting time with potential Level 2 up ahead! We will keep you posted re plans for church gathering in that phase.
The Lord is good, while there is heartache for many in this crisis, for many it reaffirms our need to put our trust in God and why that is so necessary in life!

COVID APPEAL - Contacts please?

Meanwhile could you please let us know of anyone in the wider community who is doing it tough with loss of job or income, or financial hardship and uncertainty?
We want to be able to bless them with our 'care packages - gift bags' that will offer a caring thought with a financial gift (Countdown voucher(s)). See last week's You Tube church service - announcements - for what that package is and looks like. We will make arrangements with you for how to get the gift parcel to them.

Our YouTube service this Sunday will have the regular elements of worship, but will comprise of a shortened devotional at the sermon time, so that we can Zoom in after and have a time sharing with each other about the difference our Mothers have made to our lives and Christian lives. Its so inspiring to share that and a wonderful topic for us to discuss as we connect for a Zoom Cuppa.
Please think about whether there is something you might share, we would love to hear from you. I expect we will commence Zoom cuppa then a bit earlier - 9:45am. Will send the link.

Until then, have a great weekend!

Grace and peace

Matt 26:42

42 He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”

Romans 13:1, 6-7

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor

Ephesians 5:22

21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

In God's kingdom on earth we are encouraged to honour those the Lord places in authority over us and also submit, (unless what is required of us is to go against our Christian faith).

Our supreme submission is to God himself and Jesus led by example in submitting to the mission was given by His Heavenly Father to lay down his life for us. An incredibly costly and tough mission, that in a moment he would preferred to not go through with (Matt 26:42)...but knew that it was the Father's will and one He must follow through.

He even submitted to the sentence and ridicule of the Jewish elders, Pilate and Herod in order for God's will to be done.

In prayer today and this week, lets consider how important honour and submission is in our Christian lives.

In prayer:

we submit to the Lord our life, our plans and agenda's for the day and week. “Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done.”

we honour and submit to each other in marriage relationships and toward our parents.

'In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” (1 Peter 5:5)

we think of those governing authorities the Lord has placed over us especially at this time. We pray for our Prime Minister and our Director General of Health. Pray for ongoing wisdom and insight to lead us through this Coronavirus time of uncertainty and the decisions re lockdown that lie ahead..

we also think of overseers, managers in our work life and pray that they would have the wisdom to steer the organisations through this crisis.
