Wish you all a blessed Sunday!

[03/15/20]   Recite this psalm if you are afraid about the ongoing bad news and trust in God our Heavenly Father!

Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God

1He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
3Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the [a]fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
4He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and [b]buckler.
5You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
6Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
7A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
8Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.
9Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12In their hands they shall [c]bear you up,
Lest you [d]dash your foot against a stone.
13You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
14“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will [e]set him on high, because he has known My name.
15He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16With [f]long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”

Bishop Ruud Vis from the Netherlands visited Malta this weekend and made the Divine Service this morning.

[01/19/20]   Word for this Morning Service was from
Luke 4:14

Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.

The gospel is preached to the poor. Those who recognise their poverty with respect to God, and acknowledge that they are in need of help, will receive the comfort of the gospel.

-The captives, in other words, those who are mired in sin, are to be liberated from it.

-The blind can be interpreted here as an image for those who are deficient in the knowledge of God. They are to gain deeper insights through the preaching of the gos- pel.

-The broken-hearted - those who, through whatever circumstances, have been practically destroyed, who are without any prospects and hope for the future— are to receive the liberty of God’s children:
they are offered a future in the kingdom of God.

[12/29/19]   End of the year Divine Service
Psalm 40:5

Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

We Glorify and thank God for his love and protection in this past year and for the riches he gave us.

[12/25/19]   Bible Reading - Christmas Day 2019

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

[12/22/19]   4th Sunday of Advent
1 Luke :68-69

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;

NAC Congregation - Malta's cover photo

[12/15/19]   Word this Morning
Psalm 130 :5-6a

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
And in His word I do hope.
My soul waits for the Lord
More than those who watch for the morning—
Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.

[12/01/19]   Word of the month
December 2019: “Should have” versus “have”

The last page of the calendar reminds us that the year will come to an irrevocable end in a few days. Whatever we have not managed to achieve in the past eleven months will not likely be achieved in the remaining three weeks either, barring any exceptions or unexpected good fortune.

Unfortunately, human beings are so constructed that their conscience often only makes them aware about the things they lack and the things they have missed before they even begin to think about all the things they already have.

Even if we have not managed to accomplish everything we would like to have done, and have not received all the things for which we had hoped and wished at the start of the year, there is one thing that we must absolutely acknowledge: we have—and have always had—everything we needed in order to walk the path that leads to God. And this is totally independent of any effort on our own part—because God grants us all things by grace.

Food for thought from a divine service by the Chief Apostle

[12/01/19]   1st Sunday of Advent

Genesis 3 :1

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
