Yelvertoft Independent Chapel

We are a warm and caring church established in 1662. We seek to be Christ-centred and guided by scripture.

We meet on Sundays at 10.45 to worship in an informal, interactive format, Visitors report feeling very welcome and we are committed to serving our local community. The church building is open for private prayer each day. We are part of the Congregational Federation. We run a weekly Youth Drop In during term time and host a community library.Other community groups using the chapel include creative writing, choirs, bands and drama groups. We provide occasional high quality, celebratory meals - mainly for people living alone.

Mission: Sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through words and actions.

Chapel set out ready for our community meal - roast turkey with all the trimmings and a lovely vegetarian option,

This year's reverse advent calendar Advent Wall I ready for service in the chapel foyer. Gifts of long dated tins and packets of food, Christmas items and toiletries welcomed in support of Rugby Foodbank.

December 1st will see the return of our Advent Wall - a reverse Advent Calendar in support of Rugby Foodbank. 24 boxes will be placed in the chapel entrance area (near the community library) for donations of long dated tins and packets of food, as well as toiletries. Special Christmas items are especially welcome at this time.

The picture is of last year's wall which was really well supported by the community - new pictures will follow of this year's wall.

Chapel gates to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the start of WW2.

Yesterday we had a great afternoon with a Summer Sons of Praise with afternoon tea. Those present enjoyed lovely sandwiches, delicious cakes with tea and coffee, and donated food for Rugby Foodbank. Favourite hymns were requested and sung with conviction.

[04/12/19]   Pop up restaurant set up in the chapel for our Easter community meal tomorrow. 36 people expected for a roast lamb lunch (with vegetarian and allergy sensitive alternatives).

[03/16/19]   See more details of upcoming activities at www.yelvertoftchurch.org.uk

[03/16/19]   Why not join us for the next of our ' Mystery of God' discussion groups at 7.15pm for 7.30 start on Monday 18th March when the topic will be 'Life, Death and Eternal Life'?

Before that we will have our usual interactive Sunday morning service at 10.45am where all are welcome.

We share nice coffee, tea and biscuits before our Monday meeting and after our Sunday meeting.

Come, just as you are and raise any question which troubles your mind. We won't guarantee to fully answer your question but we will discuss it with love and respect.

Many thanks to all who have contributed to Rugby Foodbank through our Advent Wall. The wall has been emptied twice prior to the picture below. Close to 200kg of food and supplies will have been donated to support those in need.

[12/11/18]   Keep an eye on our developing website at YelvertoftChapel.org.uk or YelvertoftChurch.org.uk

A warm welcome to all at our Christmas services.

Yesterday we had a community Advent Lunch and launched our Advent Wall in support of Rugby Foodbank. 1 box to fill for each day between 1st and 24th December. A good start has been made with donations from those at the meal.

The chapel gates have been beautifully decorated by the knitters of Yelvertoft. A lovely tribute which forms part of our village remembrance commemorations.

Chapel set up in pop up restaurant style for our harvest feast with musical entertainment at 6pm on 1st Sept. A few tickets still available from Jan on 07527 234908. Decoration to be done later today.

[08/24/18]   Looking forward to a great harvest weekend on 1st and 2nd September. Some tickets are still available for the harvest feast at 6pm on 1st with a variety of tasty mainly vegetarian dishes including delicious vegan dishes.

Talented music graduates Jonny Lyon and Nimishi Ilango are joining us to provide seasonal musical entertainment including some sitar music.

All proceeds to MSA Trust supporting people with Multiple Systems Atrophy.

Tickets £5 from Jan Lyon on 07527 234908.

[12/18/17]   We have changed the name of the church to it's historic name of Yelvertoft Independent Chapel. We remain a member church of The Congregational Federation which 'brings together independent free churches for mutual support and the advancement of the Christian faith'. The 'new' name matches the historic name in official documents such as our marriage register and we believe describes clearly what we are without the need to understand the term 'congregational'.

Great progress on filling the Advent Wall with food for Rugby foodbank. Thanks to all who have contributed so far. Food will be taken to the food bank today in time for the Christmas distribution so there will be plenty of space for more donations between now and 24th December.

Pop up restaurant ready for Christmas lunch on Sunday 10th December.

This year's Advent wall is in action in the foyer of Yelvertoft Chapel in support of Rugby Food Bank. Please help us fill the box for each day with in date long life food products. A small way to help those in need this Christmas.

Yelvertoft Youth Club are holding a coffee morning from 10-12 this Saturday in aid of Young Minds - a charity focussed on improving mental health care for children and young people.

Come along to the Yelvertoft Youth Drop-In Coffee morning on Saturday 18th and support the fundraising of this wonderful group of youngsters in aid of an excellent cause.

The chapel was beautifully decorated for Remembrance Sunday.

Tea Prepared

Please help us fill a box for each day from 1st - 24th December that make up our Advent Wall for Rugby Foodbank. The church building is open during daylight hours.

Charlene Sarson is a mum who comes with her three children to the Get Messy event each month in Yelvertoft Congregational Chhurch. She is also a medical science student and seems to really give of herself to whatever she does. She has grasped an opportunity to go on a VESA (Volunteer Eco Students Abroad) trip to Fiji during which she will be engaged in some excellent community projects for two and a half weeks. She has personally covered the cost of her travel but is raising funds for the activities in which she will be engaged. As a busy student, wife and mum she doesn't get much opportunity to fund raise. We at Get Messy think she's great and would like to ask you to consider making a donation (no matter how small) to add value to her trip of a lifetime.

Get Messy in June 2015

We always have fantastic craft projects.

We always have fantastic craft projects.

[06/20/15]   Had 'Get Messy in June'. Not so many children this month but a great deal of fun. Our Bible story was about the big catch of fish after Easter. We had two fishy craft activities, a fishing came and more, finishing up with fish fingers or hot dogs with salad followed by ice cream. What fun!

Had a great 'GET MESSY' yesterday with the theme of a wedding. Story was about the wedding Jesus attended (see John 2). As part of the activities the children catered for a wedding meal and having produced a range of filled rolls and cakes we then enjoyed eating them.
