The Cogwheel Trust International

We provide support, education, medical care, vocational training and give youngsters a place where they are loved and where they belong. Holistic care for vulnerable children in Uganda, within a Christian environment, from birth to independance.

The Cogwheel Trust was started by Mr Kevin Hammond in India in 1995 after he was affected by a visit to the country a year earlier. The work has spread and is now centred in Uganda where we have a children’s home in Namugongo and a school in Mpoma. We also care for children within their own community, wehre possible. We are mostly supported by donations and child sponsorship.

Operating as usual

Presents wrapped and received. A huge thank you to all who gave a little extra to fund the Christmas presents that Cogwheel gives to every child. See those smiles!

It is December. Cogwheel give gifts at Christmas to all the children and young people in their care. If you could give a little, to help cover the cost of these presents - it would mean a lot. Details of how to give are in the top post - or send a message if you have any questions. Thank you.

We are pleased to report that none of the Cogwheel children of Staff have tested positive for Covid19. By government order schools are closed and children sent back home or to some member of family ( if they have them) The remainder are at the Cogwheel facility in Namugongo. The teachers are still setting work for the children - and Mary and Solomon have been visiting the children when this is possible. In the photos you can see the newly painted swings, the foot operated sanitiser and the remote thermometer.

Happy Christmas. Its still not too late to TWIN YOUR TREE or help with the CHRISTMAS GIFTS for Cogwheel

07/12/2019

This weekend is the most popular time for putting up your Christmas tree. Cogwheel has been consulting with the the National Forestry Authority of Uganda about planting eucalyptus trees on part of our land at Kanganda. The NFA run the whole scheme as part of their 'Greening of Uganda' policy - and it will generate finance for Cogwheel as the trees are thinned, producing stakes, poles and quality timber. Would you like to TWIN YOUR TREE? A gift of just £10 will help us plant 9 square meters of G07 variety eucalyptus. You will be helping Cogwheel, the environment, the climate, offsetting CO2 and 'Greening Uganda'.

You can donate through the DONATE link which is pinned to the top of our Facebook - or send a cheque to Cogwheel Trust International c/o Kevin Hammond, Upper Bogside Farmhouse, Kellas Road, Elgin. IV30 8TW

It is time to start getting organised for Christmas. We think it is important that each child receives a gift for Christmas. We have so much and they have so little. Something that we would consider 'basic' they think is wonderful.

Cogwheel Trust is looking after 206 children and young people right now.

If you would like to be part of making Christmas special for these children and youngsters - you can use the 'DONATE' link from the top post. Or send a cheque made out to to Cogwheel Trust International - care of Upper Bogside Farmhouse, Kellas Road, Elgin IV30 8TW. Thank you. And Happy Christmas

A Trip to the Pool and Park - to Celebrate the End of Exams. Well Done Everybody - You Deserve It

23/11/2019

It is so moving to get a letter from the child that you sponsor. Just a few pounds to us - can make a world of difference to a young person in Uganda. His school report says 'could do better' - which makes him a perfect match for me - because mine always said that too!

23/11/2019

We are trying to get a bit more up-to-date than sending a cheque in the post. If you click the LINK at the bottom it should take you to Cogwheel's Donate page on Stewardship (the biggest handler of charity donations in the UK) You can give a one-off donation of any size or give regularly. It will take you about 4 minutes to give some details (absolutely no information will be passed to anybody else - and you can choose if you want to be sent information or not) We understand that you hate filling in pesky forms - but please persist. It is for the children.
