Very proud of our children in school 🌈
We would like to say a big 'thank you' to the children at Avening Primary School who sent us these pictures. They've certainly made us smile! If you would like to send our officers a drawing like these, please send us a digital copy and we will share it with our team.
We hope you’ve been finding time to get busy in the garden... Today at school we’ve been planting potatoes and making a frame for the beans planted by the Eagles, as well as #fancydressPEwithJoe ⭐️🌱💪
We are so proud to be helping you ❤️

Our last Forest School together, closely followed by an early impromptu Easter Egg hunt, made for a happy, but emotional final day. Stay safe Avening friends. School will go on for some and we hope to continue to share our news over the coming days and weeks. We will see you all again soon ❤️
In these uncertain times, we have been making things to send to our neighbours to spread a bit of joy. We hope it sends our online friends some love and happiness too ❤️
In our World Book Day celebrations which begin on Wednesday, we’re celebrating the amazing imagination of Julia Donaldson. We’ll be acting, singing, storytelling, being creative and meeting some Gruffalo acquaintances! Please come along to the hall at 2:30 to find out what adventures we get up to. Julia Donaldson’s characters invaded the school this evening (thanks to a bit of help from talented Avening friends!) and we’re ready to go! Who can you spot waiting for you in the corridor?
[03/01/20] Please be advised that in light of the recent news about a confirmed case of COVID-19 at St Mary’s School, we are monitoring the situation closely and following guidance from Public Health England. We will be vigilant in monitoring the health of our pupils and encouraging increased hygiene procedures. A letter will be going home to all parents tomorrow with further advice. This is available to view now on the home page of our website.

Term ended with a magical Christingle Service at Holy Cross Church, telling the Christmas story through readings and song. Thank you to Avening alumni from SWR for joining us, to Mr Dillon for accompanying the carols on the organ and to Rev Gerald for his blessings. On returning to school, we had a very special visitor... Happy Christmas to all our Avening friends and wishing you all the very best wishes for 2020. 🎄⭐️
What a week of performances with these amazing children as the finale this evening. We’re all sooooo proud! Merry Christmas to all of our Avening friends 😊🎄⭐️👏
We had a wonderful afternoon singing together with the residents of Ilsom House Care Home in Tetbury. Seeing the young and the elderly enjoying music together was magical and left us all feeling very festive. Thank you to everyone at Ilsom House for welcoming us so warmly.
We shared some wonderful texts this week as part of our Kindness Week. Here are some of the poems from the Owls, inspired by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
We’ve had a fantastic Kindness Week, culminating in a ‘Pudsey’s Big Workout’ for Children in Need organised by our incredible School Council. We even got the parents to join in at our Celebration Assembly! Lots of fun, kindness, anti-bullying messages and money raised 🤗
Thank you Westonbirt School for a fabulous, magical day ⭐️
What better way to bring pupils together from Cricklade Manor Prep School, Heywood Prep, Hatherop Castle School, Avening Primary School, Westonbirt Prep School,Airthrie, Silverhill School & Day Nursery, and Leighterton Primary School, than to magically change Westonbirt School into Hogwarts for a Harry Potter Literacy Day where the children have written letters with invisible ink, unleashed their drama skills, and even enjoyed a feast fit for Hagrid.
Come and see us in action tomorrow, Friday 11 October, at our Open Morning, 9:15-12 noon. We look forward to showing off our happy, hard-working school - and there’s coffee and cake too! Here are a few photos of proud children and parents from last week’s Celebration in the Classrooms ⭐️
It’s World Mental Health Day and our fabulous School Council have raised over £100 for Young Minds #HelloYellow ⭐️
Feeling very proud of our School and Eco Councillors for their litter picking on the Avening Playing Field this morning - something they asked to do. Our children are respectful and community-minded. 👏👍🏻🤗
[07/12/19] We were incredibly fortunate to have had the pleasure of watching international pianist Clare Hammond perform today at The Tetbury Goods Shed. We were mesmerised and inspired!
Please support us if you are in Malmesbury!
We are one of the community matters boxes at Waitrose in Malmesbury this month. Please save your tokens and pop them in the box. There are a few FOAS members that regularly go to Malmesbury, so if you shop at a different store, please pass any tokens on and we can get them in the box 👍🏻 thanks for your continued support 😍
Thank you to Westonbirt School for arranging the visit from the wonderful Bethlehem dancers. The Owls were lucky- and after exhausted(!)- after their workshop!
