St Francis of Assisi Catholic College

Welcome to St Francis of Assisi Catholic Technology College.

Welcome to St Francis of Assisi Catholic Technology College. Our faith is at the heart of everything we do and our motto is “Nil satis optimum”, only the best is enough. As a faith community, we have high expectations of ourselves. Adults and students alike take a great pride in their work and in our great school. We have as our patron saint, St Francis of Assisi, whose brown religious habit is reflected in the colour of our uniform. Our students wear the Cross on their ties and blazers showing that they are ambassadors for the Catholic Church as well as for our school. We work together as a team and encourage our young people to be proactive and have a voice in the development of our community. We respect and value every individual and celebrate their uniqueness and their personal contribution to our school. Our website offers you a glimpse of life at St Francis as well as a wealth of information and support for our students and their parents. Please let us know if there is anything you would like us to add to strengthen our partnership with you and regularly check our website for important notices and events. Ms P M Hanrahan Headteacher

Mission: 'A School you can put your Faith in' Learning from the example of St. Francis we celebrate and nurture each other’s God-given gifts within a caring and safe Christian family. We are committed to providing an excellent Catholic education for all, in partnership with parents and the wider community. Our Catholic school provides opportunities for every member of this community to learn more about faith, and celebrate it daily, growing closer to Christ and one another. Every member of this school community is valued, and entitled to equality of opportunity. We believe that every individual has God-given talents, and are committed to providing the opportunities for them to achieve their academic and physical potential. We are committed to a strong and supportive partnership between pupils, parents and staff, promoting a continuation of the close links between primary Schools and the wider parish communities. We endeavour to provide an environment in which self-discipline, respect and care for others is evident. Pupils are encouraged to take pride in their appearance and surroundings, and feel privileged to act as ambassadors for the school. St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Technology College fully recognises its responsibilities for child protection. Our Child Protection Policy applies to all staff, governors and volunteers working in our Catholic College. The five main elements to our policy are to: Ensure we practise safe recruitment in checking the suitability of staff and volunteers to work with children. Raise awareness of child protection issues and equip children with the skills needed to keep them safe. Develop and implement procedures for identifying and reporting cases, or suspected cases, of abuse. Support students who have been abused in accordance with the agreed child protection plan. Establish a safe environment in which children can learn and develop. St. Francis of Assisi C.T.C. values freedom of speech and the expression of beliefs / ideology as fundamental rights underpinning our society’s values. Both students and teachers have the right to speak freely and voice their opinions. However, freedom comes with responsibility and free speech that is designed to manipulate the vulnerable or that leads to violence and harm of others goes against the moral principles in which freedom of speech is valued. Free speech is not an unqualified privilege; it is subject to laws and policies governing equality, human rights, community safety and community cohesion. St. Francis of Assisi C.T.C. is committed to providing a secure environment for pupils, where children and young people feel safe and are kept safe. All adults at the school recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility irrespective of the role they undertake or whether their role has direct contact or responsibility for children or not.

📢Iceland 2019

📢This is a bike race with a difference!

The seminarians (trainee priests) of St Mary's College
Oscott, "Oscott College," are trying to raise funds for Across
charity by cycling the distance between Oscott College and Lourdes - 798 miles!

We are hoping to raise £7980; £10 for each mile cycled.

Our busy timetable means we are not able to physically travel to Lourdes but we will be doing the journey virtually as a race between two teams of seminarians using exercise bikes.

Please follow the race as it is live-streamed on the College's page between the 4th-12th of November. Make sure you especially look out for our themed events!
