In the western world, our culture emphasizes the individual over the community and the Covid-19 pandemic has made us even more isolated from one another. But the message of the Bible is that we are one Body, connected to each other through Jesus Christ who leads us all. Between Easter and Pentecost Sunday this year, we will explore what it means for us to be part of the Body of Christ.

Pastor James is getting ready for our first ever drive-in service.

[04/04/21]   Memories are often a source of comfort or encouragement to us, but they are more important than we realize. They can even direct our decisions and actions. Jesus is calling us to remember that he suffered, died and rose again for that memory helps us see our life in a new way: we are new creation people living in a hidden new creation world. Keeping that Good News at the top of our memory pile will help us to more fully live the new life that Jesus has given us. (Based on Luke 24:1-35.)

Let’s worship together as we think about how Jesus helps us to have less selfishness & more love in our soul! We are going live online at 10:50 am PT on wglc.online.church, YouTube & Facebook #Jesus #glory #freedom

[03/14/21]   We live in a time of strong opinions. But are opinions all that is, or is there such a thing as absolute reality? If there is, how can we see and live in that reality? With the new birth we have from Jesus, we are able to live a new life in which we can see things as they really are. With Jesus’ love filling our heart, we reflect his life-giving love out into the world around us and we have hope for an even better life in the future. (Based on John 3:1-21.)

March 7, 2021 worship service

From time to time, what’s in our soul spills out before others. It can be embarrassing when that happens. Of greater concern is the fact that our soul is always transparent before God. So how messy is your soul and how can a messy soul be cleaned up? Jesus will do that for us. As we trust him to do that, he transforms us into holy temples of God that reflect his life-giving love into the world around us. (Based on John 2:13-22.)

03/07/2021

How do you tidy up a messy soul? Come & find out as we worship together tomorrow at 9:50 am PT on wglc.online.church. You can also find us on YT & FB. #Jesus #love #cleaning

The Most Important Question: Who Do You Say I Am?

It is hard when things that we intend for good turn out to be terrible. But Jesus is the Messiah who came to redeem us lost and broken sinners and bring us into God’s kingdom. Loved and encouraged by Jesus in the midst of our emptiness and suffering, we become more like him. Enlivened and directed by him, we step into the opportunities he gives us to love and encourage others who suffer....

Feb 28, 2021 worship service

It is natural for us to think that we can approach God and live a good life by doing the right things. But God knows that that approach will never work. Instead, he offers us the free gift of new life through faith in his Son, Jesus Christ. Repentance is an important part of our new life with Jesus because repentance is what clears away the soul garbage that prevents us from receiving the fullness of that rich, full, abundant life. (Based on Mt. 3:1-17.)

02/28/2021

How does one prepare their soul now for fruitful living in the future? Join us Feb 28 10 am PT on wglc.online.church, YT or FB as we think about how Jesus helps us to do that. #40dayswithjesus #love #grave #repentance

CANADA MISSION MINUTE 🍁 So much of the ministry of BC Mission Boat Society is about relationships and being present in people’s lives in person and in their community.

It is amazing to see how God continues to work in unexpected ways as they have had to think outside the box to be able to continue ministry and support to the communities they serve.

Here is an update from The Canadian Lutheran's Mission News on how BC Mission Boat Society has been able to pivot, adapt, and trust God in what He had in store for their ministry this past year:

02/16/2021

This year, during the season of Lent, we will journey to the cross through the eyes of those who saw it happen. We will let the characters and events described to us in the Bible tell us of their encounters with Jesus so that we can have one of our own. For it is in Jesus, through His life, death and resurrection, that we have life, love and hope that nothing, not even death, can ever take away from us.

Relationships can be tricky to navigate. But with the new identity that Jesus has given us, and with the love that he pours into our heart, we are able to love others selflessly & sacrificially so they may have the greatest gift of all: a living relationship with the loving God. (Based on Colossians 3:18-4:6.)

Our focus directs how we live and shapes our future destiny. What do you focus on? Because we have been given new life with Jesus, we focus on the good things of God and intentionally live them out so we may better reflect God’s love into our broken and hurting world. (Based on Col. 3:1-17.)

Jan 31, 2021 worship service

It is easy for us to get taken in by counterfeits which promise the real thing but prove to be false. Jesus is the real deal. In him, we have both the fullness of God and our forgiveness. Therefore, we turn away from deceptive philosophies and human rules, and live with unforced rhythms of grace, where we are rooted in Jesus, strengthened in faith and overflowing with thankfulness. (Based on Col. 2:6-23.)

January 24, 2021 worship service (Bridge 2: The Object of Our Faith)

What is God really like and what difference does God make in our lives? To answer that question, all we need to do is look at Jesus because he shows us what God is really like. He is the author of our creation and the architect of our re-creation. Forgiven and free, we dedicate the new life Jesus has given us to sharing his Good News of healing and hope with others. (Based on Col. 1:15-29.)

We are also beginning a new series on Colossians called “Bridge.” Over the next 5 weeks we will be looking at how Jesus leads us to a better life over the bridge of faith. Because of its rugged terrain, bridges are very important in BC, especially here in the Lower Mainland. Bridges are important because they connect us to other people and other places, and they support us as we travel. Faith does the same thing. It connects us to what we trust in the most and, if the object of our faith is trustworthy, that faith will support us as we journey through life. On Jan 17, 2021, we will begin a 5 week series called "Bridge". This series will be based on the book of Colossians, which is all about the ultimate Saviour, Jesus Christ, and our connection with and support from Him. Please join us to learn more about what living faith in Jesus looks like.

Jan 10, 2021 worship service

We don’t get a choice about whether to suffer losses or not in this life. But how can we make something positive happen from our life when much has been taken away from us? God the Son saw that humanity’s need for salvation was so great that he wrapped Himself in human flesh and suffered in order to save us. With the new life Jesus gives us, we can look for human needs around us and give to others a portion of what Jesus has given us. (Based on Isa. 53:1-12 & Luke 2:40-52.)

01/09/2021

Let’s worship God together this Sunday at 10 am PT on wglc.online.church or YT or FB as we think about how we can make our lives count for something good when we have experienced a great loss! #jesuslovesyou
