When I think that Kirk of the Pines Church in Marsh Harbour, Abaco, is still standing, virtually untouched by Hurricane Dorian, it reminds me of the song "My Lighthouse" by Rend Collective. May the Kirk continue to be a lighthouse on the island, as Gabe and Jan are the hands and feet of Jesus to those who remain and those who have come to help.

In my wrestling and in my doubts
In my failures You won't walk out
Your great love will lead me through
You are the peace in my troubled sea
You are the peace in my troubled sea

In the silence, You won't let go
In the questions, Your truth will hold
Your great love will lead me through
You are the peace in my troubled sea
You are the peace in my troubled sea

My lighthouse, my lighthouse
Shining in the darkness. I will follow You
My lighthouse, my lighthouse
I will trust the promise
You will carry me safe to shore (oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)
Safe to shore (oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)
Safe to shore (oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)
Safe to shore

I won't fear what tomorrow brings
With each morning I'll rise and sing
My God's love will lead me through
You are the peace in my troubled sea
You are the peace in my troubled sea

(You are my light)

My lighthouse, my lighthouse
Shining in the darkness, I will follow You
My lighthouse, my lighthouse
I will trust the promise
You will carry me safe to shore (oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)
Safe to shore (oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)
Safe to shore (oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)
Safe to shore

Fire before us, You're the brightest
You will lead us through the storms
Fire before us, You're the brightest

Looking back at some shots from last week's Eye Vision clinic hosted by Logos Hope at Kirk of the Pines. Over 600 good folks from Abaco had their vision checked. Many received free glasses! What a way to show the love of Jesus! So proud to host this team.

Abaco Update October 2020

Jan and Gabe share stories of their mission with CYN in Abaco, The Bahamas.

09/10/2020

Good Afternoon,

I wanted to introduce you all to my new friends here in Abaco. A few weeks ago, some stray dogs took an interest in me and the meat I had on the grill... In The Bahamas, we affectionately call these dogs "Potcakes." I appreciated the company! They are incredibly sweet, female dogs. The blonde one, I started calling "Sweet T". They have hung out with me several times over the past few weeks. They look healthy, so I assume that other people have been feeding them too.

Last week, I became very concerned for their safety because I have seen them crossing the busy highway in front of the church building. I reached out to the local Humane Society who has been a tremendous help.

Last night, I was able to coral them and the Humane Society took them to their facility this morning, where they will get a through medical evaluation and be spade if necessary.

The local humane society has had tremendous success finding homes for Abaco Potcakes, especially after the devastation of Hurricane Dorian. Recently, another one from this same family, Sandy, found a home in Washington, DC. Many others have also found loving homes in The United States.

If you would be interested in learning more about one of these sweet dogs please reach out to our local Humane Society, but I will warn you, DON"T do it if you DON'T like sloppy, wet kisses because these girls very loving. Check out the links below:

Thanks so much,

Gabe

OK, travel update... Jan's flight is a NO GO for today. Rescheduled for 9 AM tomorrow. Please pray that this happens! The Bahamas requires a negative covid test and a travel visa for entry. In short, this means that Jan has a limited opportunity window for travel. Thanks Y'all!

Strengthen Your Union With God | Wild at Heart

Some really great and timely words from John Eldredge. I thought that I'd pass them along, "we must love one another or die." Check it out:

wildatheart.org When I wrote in July, I asked you a question: What story are you living in? Is it the story God is telling, or a story given to you by man? Then Stasi shared with me this quote, attributed to A.W. Tozer: “Listen to no man who has not listened to God.” That’s a really good way of putting it.

Back on Abaco Island, in Marsh Harbour, Yeah!!! Thanks for the prayers! Even though I have tested negative for Covid19, there are government restrictions that limit my movements for two weeks. Not to worry though, there's still plenty to do around the church building and catching up with everyone, virtually at least.

Hendrickson Mission

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Many of you have heard me mention The Hendrickson Family who is joining us in ministry here on Abaco. We are so excited to have them on the team. They have currently moved to south Florida from Pennsylvania in anticipation to come over once some of these Covid restrictions are loosen. Please keep them in your prayers! You can follow their journey at:

Kirk of the Pines

Good Morning Everyone,

I guess being trapped inside has lead me to thinking deep thoughts. Scary, I know... I was thinking about God's BIGGER picture, the story He has been telling through out human history and I came upon this 61 day Bible reading plan on Biblegateway. This plan with 15-30 minutes of reading each day for 61 days will give you a good overview of God's story through out the last seven thousand years of humanity!

Considering that I spend about 15 minutes a day looking for something new to watch on Netflix, (don't waste your time on Tiger King- trust me...) I figure this will definitely be a better investment of my quarantine time (Q.T.) Hopefully and prayerfully, we will be coming out of lock down before I finish this, but, I thought that a few of you might join me in this venture.

Check it out below or go to the Biblegateway link...

Thanks,

Pastor Gabe

5 Things To Remember When The Coronavirus Cancels Your Life | The Rebelution

Good afternoon everyone,

A friend of mine sent me this blog from Brett Harris, which I think has been one of the best Christian responses to current COVID-19 crisis that I heard or read.

It’s written specifically to high school and college students BUT every word still applies to those of us who are a little bit older too. I would highly encourage you to take the time to carefully and prayerfully read it.

Hey, we are all stuck at home, what else do you have to do???

Thanks,

Pastor Gabe
