Jesus is perfectly generous, and he calls us to the same.
#Jesus #perfect #moorooka #Bible #prayer
We are learning from Matthew's Gospel about Jesus' perfection. This Sunday: reconciliation. It is such good news to be known by Jesus who perfectly reconciles!
Matthew 6:21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell. 23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift. 25 “Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.
God encourages our hearts. 'Chosen By God' is the third talk in our Encouraging Our Hearts series. Sunday 28 October at Moorooka Presbyterian Church. #chosen #moorooka #tarragindi #annerley
1 Thes 2:2 We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. 3 We remember before our God and Fatheryour work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. 4 For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5 because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. 6 You became imitators of usand of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe sufferingwith the joy given by the Holy Spirit. 7 And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. 8 The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it, 9 for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.
God loves. This Sunday we are teaching about God's love for the world. We'll learn together from Romans 8. #loved #God #Moorooka
8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
Springtime. Life, warmth. The wait is over. In our Spring teaching we will recount the arrival of Jesus. The earliest Scriptures foresaw his coming, and so in due time he appeared, for us, and for our salvation. Join us over five Spring Sundays to learn from five Old Testament texts about how God promised the coming of Jesus. Sept 16, 23, 30, Oct 7, 14. #spring #jesus #promise #moorooka #tarragindi #salisbury #annerley #yeronga
We will be studying Matthew 5:11-16 this Sunday, to prayerfully learn about Jesus together. #bible #learning #jesus #together #prayer #moorooka
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
