I live near Cairns in Far North Queensland and found I had this copy of a letter that was sent to a Freemason friend of mine. He gave this copy to me as he knew I was also an Orangeman. Sadly he passed away two years ago. Alan Wakeham had been in the RAAF and was dentist in Innisfail for many years up to his retirement. In 1978 he was researching into other organizations which met in Masonic Halls in the Innisfail area, hence the letter. It gives a bit of an insight into Orange Lodges, which once met in Far North Queensland, and sadly are now gone.
Guys a quick query/request, I recently called in to the Orange Museum in Belfast to ask if they have any Orange Lodge Rolls of Honour from the Great War which I could photograph, and to their shame they only had one ! Could I ask if you are aware of any in your area, I now have photographs of approx 40 which I am happy to share with anyone who would like copies. I would hope to leave copies of them all at the Orange Museum to allow easy access for anyone with an interest. In anticipation of a favourable response. Thank You Ricky COLE
Hello All! Wondered if anyone could help at all - I am researching Pte. W J Prior who died in WW1. He is commemmorated on the Tenerfield and District Memorial Roll of Honor - I think, and definately on the Newrybar School of Arts Newrybar, Knockrow and Brooklet WW1 Roll of Honour. William came from St. Tudy in Cornwall and we commemorate each of our soldiers 100 years on from when they died with a biograhy and display in the church he would have attended before he left for Australia. I believe from a newspaper cutting that he there was an elarged photo of him with regalia of the Orangemen, to which order he belonged. a copy of this would be brilliant) He worked with Mr Ellis managing Mr Johnson's farm at Booklets. Wondered if anyone knew why he was on the Newrybar School of Arts Memorial Plaque, and any more information would be appreciated. Many thanks, Pam Free. We will be remembering him on the 10th April 2018.
Greetings to all from Golden West LOL 2311 and RBP 685 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada!

Congratulations to or Brothers in NSW who commissioned this plaque for their new headquarters. First class Brothers well done.

Interesting did you know the Australian National Anthem was written by an Orangeman and first sang on the 12th July in an Orange Hall in Sydney.

Greetings from the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland for ANZAC Day.

As we all stay in lockdown to protect ourselves and the greater community on Saturday we remember our fallen as we celebrate ANZAC Day. No gatherings this year but We will Remember Them. God Bless.

All meeting of our Orange Lodges, Royal Black Preceptory and social events have been cancelled until further notice. Your secretaries will be confirming this decision of the Grand Executive who will be monitoring the ongoing situation. We pray for an early return to normality in the near future but we must be prepared for an extended close down. Please take care of yourself, family and your community as best you can. Do not hesitate to contact LOIQ should you require assistance. God Bless.

[06/12/19]   It’s been a long day saying farewell to Mavis Jones in Rocky. What an inspiring service at the Salvation Army Church. Safe in the arms of Jesus.

It is with the deepest regrets that we announce the passing of Sister Mavis Jones centre of LOL 12 Rockhampton. Sister Jones was a rock upon which our Order stood in North Queensland and she will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Safe in the arms of Jesus.

Professor Rory Sweetman on the left and Charles Ferrel of the Grand Orange Lodge of New Zealand. Rory has been engaged to write the history of Orange Order in New Zealand and I am sure it will be an interesting read when published.
