Billion Souls Revival Prayer Call

Billion Souls Revival Prayer Call

Comments

Knowing Jesus Christ Personally Makes All the Difference “Who is this Jesus?” That has been the question we have been focusing on over these past few weeks – and an important question it is. It was the question raised by the crowd when Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem, a few days before he was arrested and crucified – and it remains a relevant question. If we do not get this right – if we do not build on a solid sound foundation then when the storms come and Jesus has already indicated and taught about the crashing consequences. Matthew Chapter 7 verses 24 to 29. 1 – Consider the claims Jesus made for himself – Jesus does not claim to have found the answer to man’s needs – Jesus claims to be the answer to man’s needs. “Come unto me all you who labour and are heavily laden and I will give you REST.” Matthew Chapter 11 verses 28 to 30 No other prophet or teacher has ever dared to say that – not Moses or Samuel or Isaiah – and certainly not Peter or Paul or John. They pointed to Jesus who was and is and is to come. Yes – Jesus is coming again. Yes – he will return one day – a message often overlooked, or ignored, in parts of the Church of Jesus Christ. “A greater than Solomon is here – prophets and kings have desired to see those things which you see – and they did not see them. Before Abraham was I am! Somehow, on the lips of Jesus, these words sound entirely fitting and apt and just and credible. 2 – Consider His sinlessness. His enemies turned the fiercest searchlights upon His life – and could find no fault. They could not detect one flaw or spot or blemish in His moral character. Never once is Jesus heard confessing sin. He came so close to sinners of every type and kind – and faced the same temptations as we do – YET WTHOUT SIN. The saintliest people in the world have been so conscious of their own sin. So – who is he who knew no sin? The Son of God. 3 – Consider this – Jesus Christ does for men what only GOD could do. I am thinking particularly of the experience of being forgiven. Margherita Lahski said many years ago – “I do envy you Christians in a way, because I have no one to forgive me.” The divine godly supernatural miraculous things – which only God can do – Jesus does! Take up your bed and walk – your sins are forgiven. Only God can open the gate of heaven – and Jesus says, I am the door. Only God can redeem – buy back – and Jesus has paid the price to buy us back from sin by shedding His blood for us on Calvary’s Cross – only God can do that type of thing! Jesus redeems us – He buys us back for God – and the price is his sacrificial blood – that is the Gospel. 4 – Consider how comprehensive and universal all this is – it is worth thinking on. Peter and John were poles apart temperamentally – and yet in Jesus they saw the answer to their problems. Matthew the Jewish tax collector and Luke the Gentile doctor had nothing whatsoever in common, until they came to know Jesus – yet to draw his portrait for the world to see, Jesus used these two men – Jesus became the only thing that mattered to them. Martin Luther and John Calvin – two very different men – Moody and General Booth – another two very different men – yet in Christ, they became one – and preached and proclaimed His glorious name. Jesus Christ the Son of God can unite the most unlikely people. We can bring it all down to a very personal level where you just know that Jesus Christ is God. It can be quite dangerous to be so subjective – yet it is true – and dynamic and comforting and reassuring – and it will make you take amazing risks – like going and praying for people – believing that the living God will do something through you – and He does, as we use the Name of Jesus. You step out in faith one day – like walking on water – and as long as you keep your eyes on Jesus – you do not sink – and if you were to take your eyes off Jesus the very arm of the Son of God would reach out to rescue you and uphold you. (Matthew Chapter 14 verses 25 to 33) “Loving Father – our gracious God – we give thanks for that ability to know Jesus Christ personally – to have that personal fellowship and communion with the living God. Hear us as we pray for someone we know who does not know Jesus as Saviour and Lord and King. Amen” (This week's "Word from Scotland" - previous articles may be found at Studylight.org and liveasif.org in the 'Archives' section - warmest greetings in Christ Jesus.)

You Have a Voice
Andrew Scarborough—Ministry Director, Youth for Christ Australia

Intention
God has prepared the way for people to come to Him, and now your voice is what’s needed to introduce the world to Jesus.

Scriptures
“What more could have been done for my vineyard than I have done for it?”—Isaiah 5:4

“Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth. You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place. What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honour. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet.”—Psalm 8:1-6

“Jesus answered, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.’”—John 3:5

Reflection
I regularly find myself outside on my back deck staring up into the sky, marvelling at the heavens. I think of the billions of people across the earth that can see these same stars and planets that testify to the glory of God.

Did you know that people aren’t just searching for God in the heavens? They’re searching online too. More than ever, people are looking for answers about this world outside of this world. According to the University of Copenhagen, Since the coronavirus pandemic broke, searches for the word ‘prayer’ are at the highest rate ever recorded.

The reality is, God has done all the necessary work for the world to be able to come to Him—but they need to be introduced to Him! If you know Jesus, then you have the answer to this world's questions. But how will they hear unless they are told?

When Nicodemus came to Jesus with His questions, Jesus told him that he needed to be born again. This is the only way to get into God's Kingdom, according to Jesus. We can all help the Nicodemuses of this world today by telling them that they can be born again! All they need to do is receive Jesus.

Hope Story Challenge
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vkx5A2mcWSI&t=2s

That is why we have started the Hope Story Challenge. This is a movement to see every believer share their 60-second testimony online. The world is desperate for God and desperate for hope, and we can give them hope right where they are searching: on the internet! Already we have reached over 100,000 people on social media. We have seen three people come to faith in Jesus since starting the Hope Story Challenge, and we believe that there will be many more. Please join us in prayer and in action.

Here is how you can take part:
1. Pray for more Hope Stories. Ask God to raise up people with large and small followings, people with radical and “normal” testimonies, people from every nation and ethnic group. Pray that people would come to Christ as they hear these stories.
2. Share your #HopeStory today. Find out more about how to do this at hopestorychallenge.com.

Prayer
God, thank you that you have prepared the way for people to come back to you. Please give me the courage to share you with the world, in person and online. Please raise up others to do the same. Send workers into your harvest field. Please take these testimonies of Christ and penetrate the hearts and minds of those searching online for purpose and meaning. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

31 Days Prayer Points
1. Pray for five people and share the Good News of Jesus with them
2. Pray that God would use his people to reach one billion people this May
3. Pray for an end to the coronavirus pandemic, both in Australia and globally

Hope Has a Name
Ps Yan Riopirio—Pastor, Filipino Christian Fellowship

Intention
In this life we face many tribulations, but as believers we have hope, and His name is Jesus.

Scripture
“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”—Romans 5:3-5 NKJV

Reflection
Life abundant is what Jesus promise us in John 10:10. Even so, huge blocks of our lives may be filled with sadness, sorrow, trials and troubles. It is a tragedy we must face because we live in a broken world.

I think this is why Paul, the writer of Romans, is compelled to focus on the word ‘hope’. He prefaces it by acknowledging that tribulations are real—but our response is to ‘glory’ in it. In other words, we are to face trials with a great attitude. Now consider all the trouble that we’ve faced this year so far. The dawn of a new decade was quickly overshadowed by bushfires here, floods in Indonesia, and a global pandemic lockdown just to name a few.

How disappointing. All of this—not to mention our daily struggles—can leave us feeling empty, with nothing to look forward to. Happiness can be overtaken by grief, mental illness or the sting of offence. As believers, we can appropriately mirror the psalmists in their cry: “Why are you downcast, O my soul?” Indeed, the world presents great troubles. But we take courage, because we have a greater hope in Jesus.

Good Grace (Live) - Hillsong UNITED
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhKSRIvDFI0

Let's focus on verse 5 of our Scripture. We have hope so we aren’t disappointed. We have hope so that our emptiness is filled with love. We have hope as a reminder that the Holy Spirit is ever at work. And we have hope to remind us that God is for us.

Now let’s replace the word ‘hope’ in these sentences and in verse 5 with the name of Jesus: We have Jesus so we aren’t disappointed. We have Jesus so our emptiness is filled with love. We have Jesus as a reminder that Holy Spirit is at work. And we have Jesus to remind us that God is for us.

Hope has a Name. Hallelujah! While we revel in our hope, let us also consider those who are yet to discover this hope in Jesus Christ.

Prayer
Father, thank You. I would not have made it very far in life if it wasn’t for Your Son, Jesus. What a hope we have in our Hero. I praise You for how You have never disappointed me. Jesus, You fill my emptiness with love. Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to continue a great work in me. I gratefully declare that You are for me, Jesus! Please open doors of opportunity for me to share this hope. Send the hopeless my way. Send the lonely, the hurting and the broken my way, Lord, or send me to them so I can introduce to them the Name that gives hope—Jesus Christ. In His name I pray. Amen.

The Harvest is Ripe

Pat Steele—Announcer, Pulse 94.1

Intention
The current pandemic has created the greatest opportunity for global harvest we have ever seen.

Scriptures
“And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. Anyone who believes and is baptised will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.”—Mark 16:15-16

“The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields. Now go, and remember that I am sending you out as lambs among wolves.”—Luke 10:2-3

Reflection
A friend asked me this morning what I hear the Lord saying to me in this time. It reminded me of something Reinhard Bonnke wrote in the introduction of his book Evangelism by Fire:

“People ask, “What is God saying to the Church today?” Why is that a problem? Does God speak so inaudibly? He says nothing today that is not in His Word already. I know one thing that God is saying. If our prophets are true they will be voicing the same urgency as Jesus Christ, and echoing the same Great Commission: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).”

We have an opportunity right now through peer-to-peer and digital evangelism to preach the Gospel to the whole world—but we need more workers. Jesus said, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” (Luke 10:2). So we need to pray for workers for the harvest. And as He says in the very next verse, we need to go.

This coronavirus pandemic has been like fertiliser for the harvest field. People have been removed from their comfort zones and are now crying out for hope. We have the hope that they are looking for, and His name is Jesus. COVID-19 will fall like Goliath and its head will be the steppingstone into the greatest harvest the world has ever seen. Now is not the time for hibernation or binge-watching Netflix—now is the time to pray and go. Now is the time of salvation!

How To Share Your #HopeStory
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YA9h5UkACg&feature=youtu.be

Jesus says that we will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes. He then goes on to say that the reason we receive this power is to go and be His witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). God loves everyone; Jesus proved that by dying for everyone; and the Holy Spirit came so that every believer could be empowered to preach the gospel, so that everyone on earth could hear the good news and call on the name of Jesus for salvation (Romans 10:13-15).

What can this look like practically? There are many great initiatives for sharing the Good News and I have been trying a bunch of different things and seeing a great response, but I am especially excited about the sixty-second Hope Story Challenge. This initiative has now been launched globally through GO 2020, and together we believe we can reach one billion people for Jesus in May. If you are reading this right now, I nominate you to share your Hope Story:

Step 1—Shoot a 60 second video on your phone of your testimony or story of hope, and finish with an invitation to follow Jesus.
Step 2—Share the video to any social media platform that you have, and use the hashtags #HopeStory, #BestDayOfMyLife, and #GO2020.
Step 3—Tag five friends to nominate them to in turn share their Hope Story.

Prayer
Father, we pray together in the authority of the name of Jesus for an end to this pandemic. Please purify the Bride of Christ. Raise workers up and hurl them into the harvest. We pray that souls would be saved—our friends, our family, our community, our nation and the nations of the world. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

"The psalms are the prayer book that Jesus used. Like most Jewish boys, He would have memorized them as a child. As a result, He used them throughout His ministry – even on the Cross. They are the prayers and songs which speak of Him. What a wonderful aid they are to prayer for us!"

" 2 Chronicles 32:22 shows that deliverance came as the secular (Hezekiah) and spiritual leadership (Isaiah) were aligned with the word of the Lord. To bring this about we must pray with humility and repentance, and speak, declaring the word of the Lord — His Gospel."

Aligning With God’s Agenda

Intention
God will bring deliverance as His church (ekklesia) and the government align with His agenda.

Scripture
“Thus the Lord saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.”—2 Chronicles 32:22

See also 2 Chronicles 31-32 and 2 Kings 18.

Reflection
Hezekiah was a great and godly king who led the Kingdom of Judah. He saw a revival in Jerusalem as the hearts of Israel were once again turned back to the Lord their God. This is exactly what we are praying for in Australia. Opposition to Hezekiah and to God's people came suddenly as the full might of the Assyrian army rose against Hezekiah. Let’s have a look at how we can deal with intense pressure by aligning with God's purposes.

First, Hezekiah brought God’s holiness back to Israel. He started with repentance and cleaning up the spiritual state of his nation. Bluntly, Australia is a sinful nation. We murder babies, kill our sick and elderly, sell our children on the streets, defile family values, and have a corrupt morality. We must start here in humility and repentance for our nation, praying for leaders and then that the people to repent and turn to the Lord. This is our first step in aligning with the Lord’s agenda. (See 2 Chronicles 31:1).

Secondly, Hezekiah brought the people back to thanksgiving, praise, and worship of the Lord. This is how we continue in holiness. This holy life is a sustained journey, not a one-off event. As we continue in these things, we remain aligned with the Lord’s purposes. It means that we are in a place to be able to hear His heart so that we can pray and prophetically declare His word. (See 2 Chronicles 31:20).

Even though Hezekiah and Israel were right before God, an attack still came against then via Sennacherib, the evil king of Assyria (2 Chronicles 32). The people were dismayed at this situation, as many people also dismayed are today as world totalitarian agendas are being played out. Hezekiah declared encouragement and truth to the people (2 Chronicles 32:6-8), and the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah.

Share the Gospel on GO2020
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFShyMYabnk

So was this the end of the attack on God’s people? Not quite. Sennacherib started rumours and began writing letters against Hezekiah and his prophetic word. It was an evil undermining spirit that brought fear, uncertainty, and doubt to God’s people. This is exactly what is being carried out today. Matthew 24 tells of wars, rumours of wars, pestilences, earthquakes, lawlessness, and deception. It is obvious that these things are happening, and that the time is short. We (the ekklesia) are the answer because we have the truth of the Gospel of the Kingdom. It is time to declare that Gospel.

We also recognise that we are not dealing with flesh and blood, but with principalities and powers. We have all authority, given by Jesus, to declare and overcome against these things for Australia. 2 Chronicles 32:22 shows that deliverance came as the secular (Hezekiah) and spiritual leadership (Isaiah) were aligned with the word of the Lord. To bring this about we must pray with humility and repentance, and speak, declaring the word of the Lord—His Gospel. As we do these things, we will see the Lord move in Australia. I am convinced that this is a ‘kairos’ time for Australia and that we are stepping into our calling as a nation to proclaim the Gospel of the Kingdom.

The key to overcoming is alignment with the word of God and with His Kingdom purposes. Through prayer and outreach initiatives like the GO 2020 campaign, the church (ekklesia) is arising with Jesus’ authority to proclaim deliverance, provision, healing—and above all, salvation. We can also speak to and lobby our Government and leaders on issues of righteousness as an outworking of our prayer.

Prayer
Lord, I praise you for sending Jesus into the world to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We know it is your will that we should not perish but come into repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Today we repent of all our sins and of not following your ways. We declare the truth of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, and we speak Your deliverance, provision, healing, and salvation over Australia.
