Rainbow God
We give thanks for the colour with which you fill this beautiful place we call home.
We give thanks for the comfort and love of your wonderful creation
Creation that flies, creation that swims, creation growing, and creation that moves beyond what our eyes see.

Giving God
You embody what it means to love and be kind.
You are with us, your people young and young at heart
You create safe spaces for all living things in this world, and for that we give thanks.

But at times, we forget to be kind to living things. We forget to share your love beyond humans.
We take advantage of the wondrous breath with which your creation fills us.
We think of animals being mistreated and becoming extinct.
We think of the human cruelty on land, sea and sky.
Like humans; animals, nature, creatures and Mother Earth feel pain too.

Help us to ease the pain of your true creation,
Help us to stretch our hands and feet to love beyond our comfort,
because it’s time to speak for those who can’t.
It’s time for us to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves,
it’s time to care more and
It’s time to be kind, to every kind.

We put our faith and trust in you during this season of creation.
Amen.

'Code red for humanity': New report says global warming could hit 1.5C by about 2030 The Earth could be just 10 years from heating by more than 1.5 degrees Celsius since industrialisation — a global warming threshold beyond which even more serious and frequent fires, droughts, floods and cyclones are expected to wreak havoc on humanity.

Message from the Moderator. 🙏

Dear friends in Christ,

Many across our state are in the midst of yet another COVID-19 lockdown. Feelings of frustration, being overwhelmed and exhausted, even anxious after what has been a particularly trying time are warranted.

I am reminded of Paul’s encouragement to the church in Galatia when he says “Let us not become weary in doing right, for we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9).

When there is darkness and despair within our communities, people need a place where they can rejoice and find light. For many, this is found through our church, be that through pastoral care, education through our schools, support services through our agency or chaplaincy within hospitals.

Do not underestimate the importance of our work within our communities. It is valued and we play a vital role.

On behalf of the entire Uniting Church in Queensland, thank you for all you are doing every day in upholding the physical safety and spirit of our congregations and wider communities.

Blessings,
Rev Andrew Gunton, Moderator

Rev Charissa Suli has joyfully been declared President-elect of the Uniting Church in Australia. Charissa is the youngest person and the first woman of colour to serve as President-elect, and the second ordained woman.

In her response to the announcement Charissa said:
"This is truly an historic moment for the Church. This is ground-breaking that you call a Second Generation Tongan, still in her thirties. Today we move forward because of you all.

I am conscious of people, both known and unknown, who have prayed, sacrificed and struggled for this moment. But let us celebrate it and give thanks for what God has done and continues to do through your witness to Christ’s radical hospitality."

She will serve the Church as President 2024-2027.

National Reconciliation Week | Australians Together

This week we start a series and Life groups based on the Australians Together material listening to the stories of our First peoples.

National Reconciliation Week | Australians Together It’s book-ended by two significant dates that all Australians can be proud of – the anniversaries of the successful 1967 Referendum and the High Court Mabo land rights decision. These historic dates still matter today; they show us that Australians have come together in the past to stand up for ...
