Generosity is a mighty weapon in our war against poverty, fear, isolation and the temptation to hoard and deprive others of a fair share.
I’ve been encouraged in these days to see God’s children giving generously and even sacrificially. Our church like many has seen people buying bags of groceries for the vulnerable in our community and for our neighbours. We have seen an emergency fund being set up for those suddenly out of work and who need immediate cash until government support can be accessed.
What has blessed my heart, made me very thankful and given me great hope, is people’s ongoing generosity in giving to mission. Our church has this week given over US$5,500 to a dear missionary friend in Russia to help them build their first home. With now only another similar amount needed, my prayer is one day soon I will sit in my friend’s house and drink tea with his family.
Thank you God for your outrageous generosity. You gave your one and only Son so that whoever believes in Him is given the free gift of eternal life. Good news indeed!

Dear Church family,
Our VBW Strategic Leadership team met last night to worship, pray and discuss our church’s next steps in response to the ongoing Coronavirus (Covid-19). We are daily monitoring the directives and guidelines from QLD Health, State and Federal governments. What’s more is that we are keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus and looking to partner with the Holy Spirit to only do what we see our Father doing.
Take a moment to remember who God is and who we are:
"God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.

I will be honoured throughout the world.”

Please pray for our VBW leaders at this time. They love you and want to do their best to serve you. Remember, they like all of us have loved ones, family and work responsibilities, and concerns for the immediate future as to how this crisis may unfold. One thing we are absolutely sure of, God is for us! As we stick together and love one another we will emerge from this season stronger, and better reflect the image of our loving Father.
Our spiritual enemy wants us to feel powerlessness and afraid. Do not fear! This is most common command in the Bible, with about one for each day of the year. What the enemy intends to steal, kill and destroy, OUR GOD WILL TURN FOR OUR GOOD, every one of us.
Devote yourselves to the Word of God and prayer. If we spend at least twice as much time doing this than following the media and talking about the problem, we will have sound minds that can speak with peace and heavenly wisdom. The Apostle Paul knew what social isolation felt like. He wrote the pastoral letters of Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon while he was imprisoned. Let them be an encouragement to you today.
Holy Spirit teach us this lesson that Paul learned:
"I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:11-13
After robust discussion, our Strategic Leadership team has decided to lay down our face-to-face Sunday services immediately and we are working to establish online methods of sharing worship and the word together. This was not an easy decision and it was made with heavy hearts. Our primary concern is to put the safety of the most vulnerable in the community ahead of those of us for whom this virus poses relatively little natural threat. The government has this week moved to limit indoor gatherings of greater than 100 people and stricter measures will no doubt follow shortly.
Please bear with us as we trial the use of new technology to broadcast worship and sermons in time for this Sunday. We plan to set up a private group in Facebook and use Facebook Live to stream worship and Helen will be teaching the next message in our Born Identity series.
You can join us live at the usual time of 9:30am or if you are unable to join us live these videos can be viewed at a later time. Our sermons will also be uploaded to Soundcloud as usual for those yet to sign up to Facebook and the general public. More details will follow.
LOCAL COMMUNITY HUB PASTORS
Our Strategic Leadership team is pursuing a strategy to appoint local community Hub Pastors who can act as the first port of call in reaching out to you, and for you to be able to contact for prayer, practical needs, etc. or just someone to chat to. Of course, we recognise that many of you will already have people that you can reach out to like this. God bless and strengthen those relationships! Our heart is that no one becomes isolated, and for you to know that your church family is here for you and to give you the opportunity to be here for them. More details will be released soon.
Our Strategic Leadership team has decided to immediately pause the School of Kingdom Ministry (SoKM) classes due to the highly interactive and personal nature of the course. We’d ask students not to watch the course videos independently, but feel free to proceed reading your SoKM Manuals. We are exploring creative ideas where we can watch the Kingdom Insights videos ‘together’ and set up an online chat forum to continue building relationships and add value to what is proving to be a dynamic discipleship experience.
OTHER SMALL GROUPS
Our Strategic Leadership team has decided to contact the leaders of our Women’s, Men’s and Prayer groups in the coming week to discuss options for meeting in safe and creative ways. Following these discussions, we will keep you up to date with new arrangements through our newsletters and social media channels.
To help you pray, we have copied below a letter we sent out in our role as Vineyard Churches Australia Prayer Coordinators to the VCA Intercessors Prayer Network. As of last night, the Church in Australia has united together to pray in one accord with the blessing of our government. We will join a National Day of Prayer and Fasting on Sunday 29th March. As we unite and love one another we will emerge from this season stronger.

Hey dear friends,
We trust you are well and are taking time to look after yourselves as you seek to lead and pray for your communities. We look to our Shepherd King to carry us through times of trouble. Our hope is in you Lord!
Christian denominations within Australia have combined together to call for a season of concerted and urgent prayer for the Covid-19 global crisis.
A national prayer initiative will be launched this Thursday 19th March, at 1900 hours and then continue daily until the crisis has been declared over. Churches are invited to join a National Day of Prayer and Fasting on Sunday 29th March.
Here are some prayer points to help your communities pray.
1. UNITY: For Christians to join together in united prayer for our nation at this time. While the strategy of social isolation is an effective way of slowing the spread of the virus, we say NO to separation and division! We are one!
2. PEACE: For the Prince of Peace to reign in us and over spirits of fear & anxiety being stirred up in our communities. Spirit of Jesus comfort us with your love and drive out all fear.
3. LEADERS: For wisdom, energy and good counsel for our Prime Minister, State Premiers, our governments and community leaders as they lead the nation through these difficult times. Thank you, Lord, that the government is upon your shoulders.
4. HEALTH WORKERS: We bless those who are dedicating their lives to care for us. Grant them grace and mercy as they face daily challenges. Provide for all their needs. Give heavenly wisdom and knowledge to those developing vaccines and medicines to combat Covid-19.
5. FAITH: Father, give us faith to reach out healing hands; generosity to give out of what we’ve got in the face of economic uncertainty; courage and boldness to preach the gospel. May your Kingdom come in power!
Precious brothers and sisters, we look forward to the day when we can embrace one another face to face.

**Important Announcement RE: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response & Update**
Dear Church family,
We wanted to touch base with you about our response to the Coronavirus for when we meet together for our Sunday morning gatherings and evening SOKM classes.
As a community of Kingdom minded followers of Jesus we have all placed our lives in God’s loving hands. We lift our eyes to Him in the face of any adversity trusting His word.
Revelation 1:17-18 “Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last. I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.”
So while we are not prone to fear or anxiety, we do want to be wise in our response to the season we are in regarding the Coronavirus. We will continue to monitor the advice given by the State and Federal Government health bodies and update you on our response as a church community as the situation changes. Please take a moment to read through the following information.
Tomorrow we have shortened our morning service and we will aim to finish by 10:45. We have decided to postpone Kids and Youth Church for the foreseeable future. Following worship and a shorter sermon, a couple of our leaders will give a short presentation on the developing Coronavirus situation, allowing for questions and responses.
With the government already restricting public gatherings over 500, we’d like:
a) to discuss how we can look after one another practically and spiritually, if even greater social isolation is required, particularly the more vulnerable amongst us;
b) to consider how we can be salt and light, in caring for our neighbours.
A few initial changes from this Sunday:-
BEFORE YOU ARRIVE:
If you or your children are feeling unwell or have any flu-like symptoms or shortness of breath (see attached chart), please remain at home as you normally would.
If you are older than 60 and/or if you have any health condition that would place you at greater risk from the Coronavirus, please follow guidelines from health professionals regarding avoiding public gatherings.
If you have recently returned from overseas and/or have had known contact with someone who has been positively tested for the Coronavirus in the last 14 days, please remain at home.
AS YOU ARRIVE:
Please use the provided hand washing facilities at the door. Parents/guardians, we are asking that you supervise your children washing their hands to ensure this is done thoroughly, front and back, including between fingers.
We will be replacing hand towels with paper towels. Please thoroughly wash your hands and use a paper towel to turn off the tap.

KIDS AND YOUTH CHURCH:
We have decided to postpone Kids and Youth Church for the foreseeable future.
Morning tea will be provided to children using individually packaged food to avoid cross contamination.
CHANGES TO MORNING TEA:
For a short while, we have decided it is best not to serve homemade food off shared plates, to reduce the risk of cross infection. We will provide commercial food items that are individually wrapped.
Coffee and tea will be available at the end of the service using disposable cups and spoons. We will have a nominated server wearing food prep gloves who will serve you hot water, coffee and milk.
We are looking forward to worshipping with you all on Sunday as we continue to discover who we are in our Born Identity series!
