Mission: Connecting high schoolers and young adults with Catholic youth initiatives in the Archdiocese of Brisbane.

It's the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity today (celebrating God as three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).

In today’s gospel we read that God the Father loves us so much that He sent His only Son Jesus to die for our sake. And that Jesus wants to be in relationship with you, which is inspired by the Holy Spirit.

How can you let Him into your heart a little more today?

It's Friday, which means time for youth group!

It's Pentecost Sunday and in today's Gospel, just like He promised, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit upon the apostles to equip them with power and courage to follow God's will and be witnesses of the Gospel to all the world.

The same Spirit that was given to the apostles is given to us when we are Confirmed in the Church. You need only be open to God using you and ask Him what He wants you to do.

When was the last time you prayed, "Come Holy Spirit"?

Gospel Encounter reflection on Pentecost

It’s Pentecost!! The day the Holy Spirit exploded upon the Apostles and empowered them to preach the gospel. The sacrament of confirmation perpetuates this same power on all who are confirmed, and this means we are called to action! Deacon Peter unpacks this in today’s Gospel Encounter.

It's Ascension Sunday and in today's Gospel, before Jesus ascended to the Father, He told His followers to "Go and make disciples of all nations."

He wasn't just saying it to them - He's saying it to us now, too! How are you spreading the Gospel message to those in your life?

The Catholic Leader

Big shout out to UQ Catholic Chaplaincy, Newman Catholic Society UQ, and the Latin American Community for stepping up to help out the international students stranded in Brisbane at the moment.

It's in times of crisis when people reveal who they really are, and you've been revealing the face of Christ!

Newman Catholic Society UQ members have been busy filling hampers with pasta, rice and other food stuffs. And the Latin American Catholic Community has reached out to feed, support and shelter 210 students in their faith family.

Jesus promised He would never abandon us. That we are not orphans - we are sons and daughters of the King. There's an intimacy as much as a respect that comes with this kind of relationship. How can you honour this relationship today?

The unconditional love of a mother gives us a glimpse into God's great love for us.

Today, let's lift up a prayer of thanksgiving for all mothers and how they invite us to a fuller view of our Creator.

What does Jesus mean when He says He is 'the way, the truth, and the life'?

Through Him, we have access to the Father and because He and the Father are one, He is both the way and the goal. He is our model for holiness.

How can you better imitate Jesus today?

How do you make sure you pray everyday?

Praying everyday can be easier said than done. From setting the time aside to what actually happens during that time set aside!

Steph Santos (@Evangelisation Brisbane Encounter Youth team) talks about how she makes sure she gets a quality prayer sesh in every day.

If you're a youth leader in the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane, this event is for you.

Youth Leader Masterclass is all about inspiring and empowering you, drawing you into a network of leaders who are building youth ministries across the Archdiocese, and creating space to renew your encounter with Jesus.

We’re talking guest speakers, youth ministries that are kicking it out of the park, praise, preaching and adoration.

At this Masterclass we're going to be talking about doing youth ministry online during COVID-19.

They call Jesus the Good Shepherd. But a good shepherd doesn't just laze about in the fields all day watching the sheep fill their bellies. No, a good shepherd searches for good pasture so that the sheep can eat the best. A good shepherd is diligent in watching for predators, quick to physically protect the sheep by laying their body on the line.

Jesus is the Good Shepherd because He does these things for us so that we can have life and have it more abundantly. Can you see the ways He has done this in your life?

What is a Spiritual Communion and is it something new?

During COVID-19 while Mass has moved online, there's been a lot of talk of making a 'Spiritual Communion'.
But what exactly does that mean?

Shane Dwyer, (Evangelisation Brisbane Associate Director, Adult Formation) talks about making a Spiritual Communion and the history of it in the Catholic Church.

Is Jesus really the gate?

What is this abundant life Jesus speaks of? How does an abundant life converge with the limitations of Catholic moral teaching?

Deacon Peter unpacks the readings in today’s Gospel Encounter.

You've survived another week of Microsoft Teams and Zoom classes while studying alongside your siblings, so why not celebrate by going to youth group... online!

In living the Catholic life, there can be moments when we didn’t actually realise that Jesus was with us. This is just what happened on the road to Emmaus. Deacon Peter unpacks this in today’s Gospel Encounter.

When Jesus was crucified, many of his followers ran away, afraid the same might happen to them. Two in particular were fortunate to have Jesus pick them out and meet them where they were at. Their hearts burned as He broke open the scriptures to them and broke bread with them.

Do you recognise Jesus reaching out to you - where you are at?

Though we can't be at dawn services or marches through the streets today, we can pause to think of those who gave their lives so that we can have the life we have.

As you take a shower, order takeaway, spend time with your loved ones today, offer a prayer for the souls of our ANZACS and give thanks to God for all He has blessed us with.

We know, we know, it's just not the same doing youth group online - but while in iso you need ya buddies now more than ever.

So whether you DM @regiumyouth on Insta and join their Zoom tonight, play a few games here with us, or pick up your phone and call ya bestie, stay connected fam and look out for one another.

Are you a muso at heart? Or do you know someone who is? Maybe you have a penchant for writing and want to hone your craft to write Catholic music?

Encounter Youth are running a four-part songwriting masterclass series facilitated by Emma Fradd (Music Director, Encounter Youth) throughout the month of May.
