Hello there, I have an event if you are interested. Your congregation can honor Christ through the writing of God's word by placing their favorite Bible verse in their church parking lot spot. This is a new idea that each church would put on. The Facebook site is #ChalkTheSpot. God Bless

Coopers Plains Evangelical Church is a community that is centred on the life giving message of Jesus Christ. We'd love to have you join us!

W E L C O M E WE’RE GLAD YOU’RE HERE! CPE Church is a community centred on the life-giving message of Jesus Christ. We're not into 'religion' - we care about relationships, and we'd love to see everyone in a life giving relationship with Jesus. So why not drop in for a visit? We'd love to meet you. Join us at 9:30am, 23 Beenleigh Rd, Coopers Plains. (Little ones are welcome - we have a kids program and creche available.)

Mission: Making Devoted Disciples of Jesus, for God's Glory.

The world we live in can be a very unfriendly place. Conflict and difficulties seem to be around every corner. It almost feels like we are always fighting against someone or something! What hope do we have in this hostile world?

Come join us as we explore the ancient book of Daniel, where we see the story of God's people in a foreign land surrounded by enemies. We invite you to meet the God who gives hope in any situation.

|| LIVE OUT YOUR MISSION ||

Jesus calls us to "make disciples of all nations" by proclaiming Him and His gospel. But if we're honest with ourselves, speaking about Jesus is REALLY hard.

So yesterday, we took a sweeping look through the Bible to see that the mission is God's! That it will be done through His plan, by His power, it will achieve His outcome, and it's for His glory. And when we realise that, we can stop feeling guilty and inadequate, and instead trust in Him to be working through us!

We are freed by God's grace, through Jesus, to joyfully join Him on His mission of redeeming people from all nations for His glory. To achieve that end goal, we can be doing two things.

1. Talk to God about people - pray! 🙏
2. Talk to people about God - cross the 'pain-line' and actually speak about Jesus! 😮

To keep encouraging you to share the hope you have in Jesus, here are some recommended resources:

On Sunday we saw that Ministry (literally ‘serving’) is not something reserved only for particular ‘qualified’ or specially appointed people to do. Rather, as Paul tells the Ephesian church, those gifted in teaching and leading are to equip the rest of the people of God for works of service (Eph 4:11-12). This isn’t just serving for the sake of service, but is working towards the eternally significant goal of seeing the body of Christ growing and maturing into the fullness of Christ (v13).
On top of this, we also serve sacrificially because we follow in the footsteps of our servant king who has first humbled himself to the point of death for the forgiveness of our sin. And so we are to have the same humble mindset of Christ Himself as he counts Himself nothing to serve His people, His church.
For Reflection this week:
1. Prayerfully consider how you might use the gifts and circumstances God has given you to build up God’s church
2. What is your attitude when it comes to serving Christ’s body? Are you tempted to feel that ministry is menial and unimportant? How can you grow in seeing the eternal significance and grow in gratitude in sacrificially serving our servant King?

Join us tomorrow for the first of three CPE prayer events where we'll come together to pray to our awesome God, earnestly asking Him to work out His will in our lives, in our Church, in the lives of those working hard for the gospel here and abroad, and in the many cities and countries where the name of Jesus is not known. We'll also be exploring different ways that we can find out how we can be finding out the needs of God's mission, as well as different ways we can be praying to our God.

The event will start after a very brief break after Sunday service and there will be a special morning tea provided for those coming along.

Hope to see you there!

Join us tomorrow for CPE’s first women’s event for 2020!

Have you ever felt dissatisfied with your situation and relationships in life? We know that the Christian life is meant to be one of joy and contentment. But why do we often find it so hard to be content?

Come and discover how you can experience real, lasting contentment in your life and where our significance, security and satisfaction should truly come from.

Please arrive at 8:45am for a 9am start on the day. The formalities are expected to conclude at 11am but please feel free to stick around after!

Last Saturday our dedicated group of Sunday school teachers attended a Kids Ministry conference!

Sunday School is such an important ministry where the youngest of the congregation can be nurtured with knowledge, skills, and values to grow into adult followers of Jesus Christ. A big thank you to those who put in time and effort each week to bring the word of God to the children of CPE Church! 👧🏻🧒🏽👦🏻👶🏻👧🏼👦🏻

|| WELCOME TO THE FAMILY ||

Ephesians 4:1-6 urges us to remember who we are, and to live that out. So who are we? The previous 3 chapters tell us:

In Christ we are redeemed and become part of a new people.
In Christ we are united to every other believer.
In Christ we receive adoption into a new family.

Which means, if you trust in Jesus, you belong! It doesn't matter who you are. You become part of the family. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

And here's the thing about family: We have a responsibility to care and love for each other. We are called to love like Jesus with servant hearted and self sacrificial love. This is to the marker of who we are! (Jn 13:35)

Which is why as disciples of Jesus at CPE, we are devoted to caring for one another in Christ centred community. This can be hard work, but as we strive to 'bear with one another in love (Ephesians 4:3)', we give thanks that we have the privilege of being part of God's family. We give thanks that we belong - and you can too.

When you hear Jesus say, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me" - what do you think of?

Last Sunday, we heard our ministry apprentice Peter share about his apprenticeship over the past year, and were challenged to think hard about how God is calling ALL of us into 'costly discipleship', and whether that may involve full-time ministry.

We're also excited to share that Rebecca Bailey will be starting her apprenticeship in campus ministry very soon - watch this space!

Revelation 4 and 5 presents a picture of one who is truly worthy to be worshipped. A King who has created the universe simply by speaking into existence. One who has purchased for Himself people of all nations by the blood of the His perfect Son.

Even kings and the most fantastical angelic beings must bow down, worship, and sing God’s praises all day and all night long.

And we must also do that too. We also must magnify God – that is, we glorify Him, praise Him, we worship Him. Because God has made us and redeemed us at great cost. This is what we come to do as we meet up on Sunday each week. But worshipping God is so much more than just what we do on Sunday.

Paul tells the Roman church, if we have understood God’s mercy in giving us His righteousness through faith in Jesus, then we must offer ourselves as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. This, Paul says, is true and proper worship (Rom 12:1).

We worship and magnify God with our lives.

All of it.

God is worthy of all our worship. How can you be growing to be magnifying God in your live more and more?

What is something that you have attributed more value and worth in your life than the God who made you and redeemed you?

How can you be using the gifts and circumstances God has given you to use to magnify Him today?

Sunday Service - 16/02/2020

|| WHAT DOES A MATURE CHRISTIAN LOOK LIKE? ||

Col 1:15-29 reminds us that through Christ we have been rescued from sin and reconciled to God, with a big purpose - that we be presented perfect on the final day. God’s goal for his people is fully grown maturity. In fact he wants us to be ‘conformed to the image of his Son’ (Rom 8:29).

As we head to that final destination as his disciples, we aren’t called to perfection right now, but we ARE called to progress. This means a step by step, day by day, growth to be more and more like Jesus. This means a patient, persevering together in God’s word and prayer, which are God’s gifts to grow us. This means if we truly want to be disciples of Jesus we need to be devoted to growing in Christ-like maturity as we know and obey God’s Word.

So what little step can you take?
Perhaps you need to schedule in some personal time in the word and prayer each day on your calendar app.
Perhaps you need to commit to a life group this year.
Perhaps its just humbling yourself before God and asking for help in this.

Today is the day to pick yourself up from the ground and take a step. Today is the time to stop feeling discouraged, dry and stagnent. Remember your Heavenly Father is celebrating your steps, not focussing on your failures. So get up! Take a step today, to be more like Jesus.

|| WHAT’S YOUR PURPOSE? ||

Matthew 28:1-20 confronts us with a truth that changes everything - Jesus is the one with ALL authority in heaven and on earth. He has risen from the grave. He has defeated sin. And he is now king!

And this is where we need to start if we want to live with real purpose, because understanding who Jesus is changes everything. King Jesus is at the centre of God’s plans for all of history - a plan to save people out of darkness and into his kingdom, gathered around the throne of Christ in worship. And he calls us now to ‘go and make disciples of all nations’.

Here at CPE Church we want to be driven by the same heart that God has. Which is why we’re launching a new mission statement to capture this.

'MAKING DEVOTED DISCIPLES OF JESUS, FOR GOD'S GLORY'

We are hoping, under God, that this statement will drive us forward to make a deep gospel impact for the kingdom. We are longing for many more to be saved, living lives in worship and honour of our king Jesus. Will you join us?

Join us tomorrow as we start our new sermon series where we ask the question - What does it mean to really be a disciple of Jesus?

We so often give God our second best and are complacent in our Christian lives...but God has called his people to so much more!

Come find out why being "DEVOTED" to Jesus matters, and how this changes how you see everything.

💬 PSA Announcement// CORONAVIRUS

To our church regulars and visitors,

In view of the current watch and act situation with the CORONAVIRUS, we are taking special precautions to ensure we minimise the chances of catching and spreading the virus.

As per the Queensland Health recommendations, if you have been to CHINA, INCLUDING HONG KONG over the last two months, we would ask that you WAIT TWO WEEKS after you arrive back in Australia before you attend church or our regular mid-week groups.

We know this is a sacrifice and inconvenience for you and we wish it were otherwise. But for the sake of public health and those who are especially vulnerable, these precautions, along with your prayers, would be much appreciated. Prayerfully we hope that this will only be be a very short and temporary inconvenience and very soon anyone in this situation would be able to rejoin us before long.

For those unable to join us, our sermons will be available after service on our podcast or website (cpechurch.com/sermons).

While it is currently a time of heightened anxiety for many let us take comfort in remembering our God is sovereign. Please pray for this global situation. 🙏🏼

The CPE Crew had a massively encouraging week at Ignite Training Conference last week digging into God’s Word together.

Please pray that what they’ve learnt will be used to show others how amazing the scriptures are!!!

Today we welcomed Susu, Ray, Janelle, Matt, Zac and Grace as official members of CPEC! 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦

There a number of reasons why we become members of a church, one being that because God makes us a part of his larger family when we are born again, we should covenant in a local body and live in community with them, agreeing to live by certain established godly principles and standards.

If you are not yet a member, please feel free to message us to find out more 😊

We’d love to meet you

Here's a bit about our church: we are a community centered on the life-giving message of Jesus Christ. Our purpose as a church is to proclaim this good news to the Southside of Brisbane. We want everyone to know God’s love and to discover what true life is. We’re not into ‘religion’ – we care about relationship, and we’d love to see everyone in a life giving relationship with Jesus.

We value community here at CPEC: We meet together during the week in various small groups to study God’s word, pray for each other and to share life. We’d love for you to come and be encouraged – there’s a group for everyone!

Our main time of gathering is our Sunday service, which is at 9:30 am every week. This is where we come together to worship God in song and prayer and hear God’s Word spoken to us from the bible – that’s how we get to know him better.

So why not drop in for a visit? We’d love to meet you!
