Celebrating 40 years of The Uniting Church

As a community of Christ in The Gap, our members try to follow Christ's teaching of Worship, Witness and Service. Being actively engaged with our local community means that we try to live out our values and beliefs with others.

Church Online

We are so excited to join with you for worship at 8.30am and 6pm today! Tune in shortly for our morning worship lead by Rev Rod Fisher by visiting www.live.thegapuca.org.au.

This week is our final week in our March series, and we will be exploring the theme of grief, which seems quite timely. Our Bible story this week is from John 11: 1-45, with the death of Lazarus.

Update from The Gap Uniting Church on activities & gatherings

Our latest update! Contains information for online worship commencing Sunday 29th March as well as a way to let us know what support you might need during this time and how you can help us!

mailchi.mp The way we come together at the moment is looking a little different, however, we can continue to be a vibrant and active community in Christ even if we can't be in close proximity to one another. Our on-site Sunday services are currently suspended however we are moving to online alternatives, so we...

The story behind author Cameron Bellm (http://krugthethinker.com/2020/03/prayer-for-a-pandemic/)

[03/17/20]   We are aware of the latest recommendations around the size of indoor and outdoor gatherings. Further detailed information will be available in the next 24 to 48 hours on what that means for our congregational events and activities.

In the meantime, instead of shaking hands, pickup the phone and call those you love. Instead of meeting for coffee, pray for peace, healing and hope. Instead of tuning out with Netflix, engage and reach out to those that are in need.

Some thoughts from our Moderator in a time of anxiety

The coronavirus pandemic has given us opportunity to see the wide variety of visceral responses to a crisis—in ourselves and in others. The pattern of flight, fight, or freeze can be seen across our communities.

In this week's #ModeratorMusing, Rev David Baker reflects on the coronavirus and offers a prayer.

With the increasing spread of COVID-19 and the risks it poses to those who are most vulnerable within our community and our congregation, the hard decision has been made to postpone the Fair. We do so not out of fear, but out of respect and love for those who wanted to serve and those who we wanted to attend.
We hope that you and your family and friends remain safe in the coming weeks and as a Church will work to pray and support those that we can.
We hope that a suitable replacement date can be found later in the year and will be back in contact with updates.
Thanks,
The Autumn Fair Committee 2020

Morning tea time at playgroup 😋💕

I saw this happening at playgroup yesterday and had to take a quick pic to share! Even our littlest playgroupies tune into the social routines around them and participate😁 During playgroup morning tea, you can always see children talking to each other, sharing food with each other (although mums are not always happy when their toddler licks a cracker and then shares it with his best friend 🤣) and even the pickiest eater will try new things just because their friends are eating and enjoying it 😋 #socialbeings #morningteatime #respectfulparenting #breastfeeding #playgroup #eatingtogether #positivepeerpressure #playgroup #playgroupvillage #playexploresocialisegrow

Act for Peace - Donation

As part of our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day celebrations, 100% of the offering taken up has now been transferred to the Christmas Bowl.

The Christmas Bowl is an ecumenical appeal bringing together the 18 member churches of the National Council of Churches in Australia. It supports partners around the world to both meet urgent need and create change that lasts; equipping communities affected by conflict and disaster with the skills they need to solve their own problems and get back on their feet.

We are extremely grateful that you gave $3,089.50 to the Christmas Bowl this year.

If you would still like to contribute, you can do so via the Christmas Bowl website.
